In our local homes section of the Akron Beacon Journal, I read the best article on giving back that I have seen lately.
The City of Akron has just announced a program that provides FREE lawn care services for military families in Akron Ohio that find themselves struggling because their loved one is serving our country overseas!
As we all know, lawn care and landscaping can be quite a chore. Just imagine your loved one is not home to take care of all the hard work. This program steps up to the plate to help these great families with their sacrifice. With the help of volunteers, neighbors and landscapers these families can maintain their green spaces. Just one more thing off their minds. How wonderful!
To date, Project EverGreen has signed up more than 6,000 military families and over 1,300 lawn/landscape contractors and volunteers to assist in this effort. Anyone that could use this service can just sign up and request it on-line. It is a nationwide effort.
Anyone who knows a service family in this situation, please call or email them with this information. I know you will make someones day.
And can you imagine the phone call to tell their loved one overseas that this is being done for their family. How relieved and grateful do you think they would be? Someone is thinking of them and actively assisting their families with this great task. My, my what a feeling. That's what giving back is all about anyway, right?

David, that is awesome for the City of Akron to do that, and some friends say nothing good comes out of Ohio. I'll pass this along, next time I hear one of the comments. More cities should pitch in like this and help our soldiers, what a blessing to the families.
