The ol' juke box is playing all the Goldies... Gold Stars, that is! For the third time this week,  we  come together as a community to celebrate and to GIVE a BIG round of applause (AKA your comments) to our 1st Place Winner. ..Newbie, LIZ FOLEY
You can tell in the first few minutes you meet her that she is a kind and generous person. You can also tell she's ethical and professional. That's the combination that adds up to make a real estate professional shine. How would I (janeAnne) know this? I looked at the testimonials on her Profile page, and have emailed back-and-forth with her. ..and I read her first BLOG entry...(<that's a hint.)

... a few more hints...
•·        She lived in 36 homes by the time she was 36.
•·        A REALTOR®, she sees herself as a member of a service-oriented community, with the ability to impact people's opinions, and open doors for them (literally!).
•·        Of  herself, she says, "I am not ‘green'.  Heck, I'm not even in the color spectrum of green, or olive, or pea soup.  But I admit it - it is time."
•·        Obviously that statement proves that she is very smart and has a clue! (editorial comment from janeAnne ;-))

•·SHE'S A NEWBIE!!!!
The Winner's a Newbie,
The Winner's a Newbie!

Here are a  few representative comments on this NEWBIE's  article:...(please add YOURS!)

SHINING THROUGH...

The  article donated by this Emerald -Green Gem connects the dots with a soft-touch and a smile.
Her story is an attention-grabber.   As on e of our Readers pointed out, " Lots of graphics make this well- thought out and constructed article a pleasure to read which in the long run helps readers to begin their part in helping our HOME and Homes on Earth.

THIS NEWBIE gives us a delightful, fun-filled and informative read that offers
take a look around YOU practical steps for REALTORS® and All. Her research shows and reaches out to touch her audience. Here again is a call to personal involvement that  captures the spirit of stewardship and brings it home to the real estate profession which is what the contest was all about.

So gather ‘round the juke box
Lift your glasses high,
It's a night for celebrating,
An eve when shamrocks fly,
And all of us are graced with luck,
And humor and a song,
For Liz Foley's told a winning tale,
In which we all belong!

May we present the 1st Place Winner of the First Annual GREEN is Red Hot Contest...

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S    L I Z    F O L E Y

"Kermit sure had it right - it DEFINITELY is not easy being "green",
especially in a career  that requires marketing (translation: lots and lots of paper),
driving (translation: showings, fuel consumption),
electronic tools (translation: computers, cell phones, PDA's).
So as an admittedly un-green REALTOR®,
what can I do, both personally and professionally, to color me green?

With these words, L:iz  opened a conversation in which all of us can participate. Her  article, Kermit had it right - it ISN'T easy being green!   brings home  to all of us in the real estate profession that, as you say, " There are so many other things we can do, and we need to do.  Stewardship of this planet we call home is in our hands."

Thank you for being part of the Active Rain Community, and Congratulations, LIZ!

The prizes for 1st Place are:

  • 400  bonus points
  • The Article is Featured today on ActiveRain
  • The Article will receive a Gold Star and be Featured at ECO-All-Stars
  • Pure Possibility

So that's it for now...Hope to see y'all again Next time this year...In the meantime, you are invited to join the ECO-All-Stars who sponsored this Contest and the amazing display of talent, energy, and heart in the articles it produced, as we look into the  Red Hot Green market trend and positive futures for all concerned.

A LUCKY CHARM TO ALL......" may the road rise up to meet ya'..."

Liz, a big round of applause is coming your way from LA!  Liz, by the way, I get an error when I click on your website URL from your profile. You may want to check that out!  http://www.lizfoley.com

WOW!  That was surprising, to say the least!  Thanks everyone for this welcoming hug into the group of ActiveRain.  I must say I'm ...what's the word...flumoxed!

As a non-writing writer (never seem to find enough time or inspiration) this is more than you realize.  Maybe it's time to prod my brain and fingers along to do more of it.  The best part about this contest was that janeAnne got everybody perculating on the subject.  The small things add up so we can all be more eco-friendly.  And I haven't been on the bandwagon (honey, can you go find some recyclinstpatdayg bins to set up downstairs?)

This was fun, let's do it again sometime, sure and begorah (is that how it's spelled?)

THanks again, Liz

(OH, and about that link, Jeff - I just let it run out and have a new company pick it up on Monday - figures - argh! Try again mid week next week.)

JaneAnne, it was so much fun reading all the posts. Each person had such a unique way of getting the point across. And you made it ever so much more intrigruing to get each of the winners, daily with the coo-de-gras on the biggest "Green" day of all. Good job and it was a pleasure being part of it.

It inspired me enough to write another blog today and bring the "green boy" to make it fun.

janeAnne...Yay...A New Comer won this contest...Love it...

You and I both know I really really wanted to see a New Member win this contest. This is excellent. I'd say more but I need to go read and comment on her post. I think I may have missed that one :)

Everything they said about her is true! It's been a pleasure working with her in the past and WAY TO GO TIN LIZZIE!!

Liz, A big ole' congrats on the awesome "green" post and the victory!! WooHoo!!!!

janeAnne, Awesome contest. And thanks to Gena and Dena as well. Wonderful job putting this all together. I promise to start thinking green. All these posts have really got me thinking. I guess that's a good thing. I think the very first step I'm going to take is limit TLW's trips to the mall. That will help cut down on fuel consumption.

03/17/2007 08:12 PM by Bryant Tutas-Tutas Towne Realty, Inc

How about if we make you use all those newspapers you don't read as t.p. ????  :)

03/17/2007 08:16 PM by "The Lovely Wife"...Broker Bryant's Wife... (Co-Owner Tutas Towne Realty, Inc.)

Okay, I paid that last poster (hehe, that would be my brother AND my current client and former client!) Thanks Rick (oh, please, please, no tin lizzie jokes!)

TLW - know what I just realized?  I just went through a ton of blogs and comments AND I CAN'T FIND YOUR REAL NAME!  Ah,  oh, well, thanks anyway - you and The Other Half.

My next goal is to read each and everyone's entries - I truly feel the winning of this is in the opening of our eyes....and the research each of us did to put the articles together.  Take care, everyone!  GOT GREEN???

03/17/2007 08:19 PM by Liz Foley

Hi Liz...

My name is Billie Tutas :)

You can call me TLW or Billie or Misty or Broker Bryant's wife or The Lovely...I could go on, but I think you probably see they call me a lot of things around here. Some of them I'm sure I would rather not know about :)

TLW...ROAR!

Hi Margaret...thanks for your comment....All the Readers for the Contest expected to read many, many articles but I am not sure if we expected such an amazing array of excellent material. As far as we are concerned all the entries are STARS. But to think that this was Liz' very first article on her BLOG! WOW! Possibly that was a lucky charm...

In view of all the other articles, of which I STILL can't get through them all and comment on them - I feel more like a mouse roaring, but thank you! I have been inspired to do a better job (not to be trendy, mind you) but even more so, my writing engine has been fueled up.  I needed this - now my husband wants me to starting earning a secondary income writing - um - who has that kind of time - not me! But this new fellowship here is great fodder to get back in the saddle.  To all of you that entered articles that I haven't commented on, know I am trying!  Liz
