Have you made any changes since my last Blog?  Do you feel a little more Earth friendly yet?  Well, if you said yes then congrats.  If you said no then here are a few more simple things you can do to have a Green House (and save a little green too).

It's summer and although many places are suffering floods there are still just as many places in drought.  This Blog will discuss simple affordable ways to save water.

1.) Most toilets use 3.5 gallons of water per flush.  Multiply that times the number of people in your house and that's a lot of water down the pipes each day.  The simplest way way to save is to put a 1/2 gallon jug filled with sand in the tank.  You'll get just as good a flush but use much less water doing it.  If you're feeling a bit more energetic you can replace your old toilets with a water sense version.  Many counties are even offering rebates for replacing your old fixtures.

2.) Ever stop and think about how much water we waste when we shower, wash our hands or faces, or brush our teeth?  Of course the easiest solution is to turn off the water when soaping up or brushing.  But, if that's just not your style you can go to your local hardware store and purchase aerators and low flow shower heads.  If you can replace a light bulb replacing your faucets and shower heads is just as easy.

3.) So... now we've saved some water inside the house, let's take a look outside.  If you're in a drought you can't water your lawn when ever you want.  Try re-purposing your grey water.  Grey water is water from your sinks, tubs, showers and washers.  You can have a grey water system installed for various prices.  You can also harvest your rainwater (that is when you get rain).  Call your local utilities to see if they have information on either of these great water saving measures, both can be directed to your irrigation system allowing you a green lawn again.

I hope you are enjoying this searies of Blogs, please feel free to leave comments.
