To start at the beginning:
Creek course at Carolina Trace Sanford, NC | These two Camellias are along the cart path on the way to hole 13. The blooms were beautiful on this late winter day. |
| Hole 13 is a par 4 with 286 to 299 yards to the bottom of the cup. | |
| The hole rises slightly just after the tee and then drops down a moderate hill. About halfway to the pin, the fairway turns to the left. At this point, there is a bunker on the left side of the hole.
Homes on both sides of this hole are in Trentwood and Woodemere. |
The hole is guarded by a sand trap in the front. The green is particularly small and elevated on a small hill. This means a shot off by even the slightest amount will roll off the green and into the sand trap, into the trees beyond the hole, or back onto the grass if you are lucky.
From the green you can glimpse back in time to the 7th hole.
After finishing the 13th hole, take the cart path to the left and on to the 14th hole.
| The 14th hole is a par four. The drive to the pin is 316 to 384 yards. |
The 14th hole drops down a moderate hill from the tee. The hole is just out of sight to the right at the bottom of the hill.
Homes on the right of the hole are in Trentwood and Woodemere. Homes on the left at the beginning of the hole are also in Trentwood and Woodmere but those further down on the left are part of Laurel Thicket.
| The tee shot should bring the hole into view. The fairway gets narrow at this end. Bunkers guard the right front and left of the hole so make a careful shot for the green. |
The green is fit into the hillside, with bunkers on either side. The green falls off sharply behind the hole into a low lying wooded area. Again, shoot carefully.
After finishing the hole, you can cross the road to use the restroom from the 5th hole if you need a break. Otherwise, follow the cart path to the left, across another road, and up a hill. Yes, up ANOTHER hill. Are you really sure we aren't in the mountains?
| Hole 15 is a big par 5, with 420 to 534 yards to the flag. From the far tee, this is the longest drive on the Creek course. |
From the tee, the fairway drops pretty sharply down a hill before turning to the right. The actual hole is out of site to the far right. A pond is at the base of the hill, out of sight of this photo. Keep your tee shot aimed at the middle of the fairway to prevent trouble.
Homes on the right of the hole are part of Laurel Thicket. The left side of the hole is part of Laurel Thicket at the tee and Golf North farther along the hole.
| After the fairway turns to the right, the green comes into view along with the pond. The green is tiny so shoot carefully here. |
The green is very small. The front of the green is guarded on the left and right by sand traps. Behind the green is a hill sloping to the pond beyond. A slight overshot will land among the trees. A little more will give another bonus fishing trip.
Follow the cart path a short bit to the left and on to the 16th hole.
