Today is the middle of July.  It was a chamber of commerce day here in Oldham County.  Yes, it was a hot day, but not as hot as most July 15's.   We are one step closer to opening RE/MAX FourSquare Realty in LaGrange.  I can hardly wait. So much yet to do, but so much that has been done too.

Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing a prospective associate.  It was a wonderful meeting.  Although we have been nothing more than acquaintances in the past, today we seemed like old long lost friends.   I hope we can become mutually beneficial business associates.

Each day, I turn on the computer and find more hidden treasures of the RE/MAX system.  As an example, the local Realtors association will be sponsoring an ABR class in August.  Early registrants can get $ 40.00 off the $ 300.00 registration fee, but the same course offered by RE/MAX Satellite Network is only $200.00 and no travel.

Glad I bought a balloon.

I had always felt it was a value issue.  From my viewpoint, most franchises were not capable of providing me with a good cost to value ratio.   As the local market began changing from one where there was "churning" with people moving within the area by up or downsizing, we did not feel we were getting our share of buyers moving in.

While on a trip to Florida, we realized that we had eaten in franchise restaurants from fastfood to top of the line steakhouses.  We bought gas at franchises, even stayed in a franchise hotel...  So when we got home, I began considering the top franchises never really considering RE/MAX.  We had decided, however, that if we were going to franchise, it would only be one that home owners and buyers would immediately recognize.  There are some great franchises out there, but the whole purpose of franchising to us was name recognition.

We had almost decided to not franchise, when out of the blue, it was suggested that we might want to contact RE/MAX.  We did, and we are so happy that we did.

Tom,

We really enjoy being RE/MAX agents as well.  I have been in the business now close to 5 year - with the same RE/MAX office : )   Good luck with your new office !
