To start at the beginning:
Creek course at Carolina Trace Sanford, NC  | The 16th hole is a very compact par 3. The drive to the pin is a mere 93 to 151 yards but don't let the short distance fool you because this hole has plenty of hazards and challenges to make up for its small size. |
| From the tee, the view of the green in the distance is a bit daunting. The large sand trap guarding the front of the green is only the start. The pond guards both the front and right of the hole. If you overshoot the green, your ball will likely roll down the hill on the backside and into the road beyond. Nice, short par 3, NOT! |  |
 | This closer view of the hole shows what a small target the green is. A perfect tee shot will land you on the green. A less than perfect shot will land you in the sand trap or give you another opportunity to meet the aquatic residents of Carolina Trace. Oh well, you could always be at work!

Next, follow the cart path across the road and on to the 17th hole. |
| The 17th and next to last hole is a par four. The drive to the hole is 324 to 435 yards. |  |
 | The 17th fairway is fairly straight. There is a small dip immediately after the tee but the fairway then comes back up level with the tee. This gives the golfer yet another blind shot. What fun! The fairway then follows a moderate slope down to the hole. A small bunker awaits your tee shot on the right side about halfway down the fairway.

 | After the tee shot, the hole comes into view at the bottom of the hill. A bunker protects the right front of the green. A hill drops from the green on the left. |
The 17th green is guarded to the right front by a sand trap and the green drops off in all directions. It is a fair sized green for this course, but shoot carefully.
After the hole, follow the cart path to the 18th tee. |  |
 | The 18th and final hole is a par 4 with 325 to 390 yards to the pin. |
The tee gives a beautiful glimpse of the lake below. The fairway curves slightly to the right at its midpoint. The hole slopes down from the tee and it also slopes downward from the right to the left. The hole is in view just right of center in the far distance. Don't try to save a stroke with a monster tee shot or you will end up in the lake!

 | At the bottom of the hill, the hole juts out onto a narrow peninsula which is almost completely surrounded by Lake Trace. The view is lovely but if you are not careful your poor ball will end up swimming with the fishes. For your sandwedging pleasure, bunkers are located to the right front AND left back of the hole. Enjoy this final challenging hole.

| After you finish the hole, enjoy a view or two of beautiful lake trace before crossing the bridge and climbing the hill to the clubhouse (YES, another hill)! |  |
 | After all of that, you may need to buy a few more golf balls in the pro shop or have a drink or two at the clubhouse before returning to your home in Carolina Trace.
