On Saturday night, I decided t update my iphone and  thought this is really great. I put some great widget on nit, AIM, Google, IDetect, Weight Track, MPG just to name a few and after it updated, I need to make a call and went to my contacts and it was empty. All 100+  contacts, friends, family and clients. I then thought, that is okay, I still have my contacts on Outlook.

I came home yesterday, flipped open my lid to my laptop and it rebooted itself 10 times. Something was definitely wrong. After chatting with a Microsoft certified friend, we got it working BUT it deleted everything, including all my contacts from Outlook.

Just remind me not to touch another electronic thing this week. I have a jinx. But you see I found yet another computer to use so I don't miss a day on active rain.

Nancy,

All your contacts!  Ouch!  I'm hoping you had a backup service.

IMO, this is a good reason to use an email service provider for handling email. They store your emails and contacts and you can access it from any internet capable computer.  I use Google's free email service with my domain (RealtorBillDunn.com) and my wife's business (TrendyRepeats.com). And best of all you can still use your Outlook to send or recieve the emails if you like.

In the future the computer will just be a tool to get on the internet. All your data will be stored online. A computer without internet access is virtually useless. PDAs and SmartPhones are already cutting into computer sales.

Yikes Nancy, you're scaring me.  I had a little problem yesterday with my email and I was freaking out.  As soon as it was up and running, I copied everything!  I thought all this tech was supposed to make out lives easier!

Hey call me when you're in the area, my schedule is a little crazy this week.

That is a shame. That is always a good reason to keep a backup file of all your contacts on a disk or flashdrive.

Im sorry to hear about that. Thanks for sharing! I think I'm going to make a copy of my outlook just in case. I wish the best for you!
