I never got to see him pitch, but as a life long Yankees fan he is legend.  Please tell him I said hi.

Karen, I remember what a great pitcher Whitey Ford was. What a privilege to know him.

I will do that Rob...when he comes back home here to Florida!  He's a great friend!  Love's to talk about baseball! Why not when you're the best of the best!  You are watching the game...right?

I know, I just saw it...Amazing...those old guy's are probably tired by now...midnight...then again...they are probably so proud to have been a part of this franchaise...No sleep for me...I need to watch it all...you know he will ask when he come's back and want to talk about the game...Not missing a second...

He is one fantastic person and is a great friend, cordial to all who recognize him...We truely try to keep him to ourselves...however...he is a gracious man and will allow pictures..and will sign baseball's when asked by a fan!

WOW...we're in the 12th inning...can you believe this..what a game...!!!!

Now the 13th inning...I bet the seasoned guy's are exhausted after the wonderful day they had with the parade...this is exciting...at almost 1 am...

Now the 14th...unbelievable...the vet's are saying..."Let me in there please!!!, I finish this off..." I mean it's 1:15 in the am...how exciting!

Bottom of the 15th??? OMgoodness...I want to see the end of the game...but it's 1:30 am...Then again...I probably will hang in there...just so I can tell everyone else who pooped out about it tomorrow!

The American League win's 4 to 3...time for bed...what a fabulous game!  Nite...amazing game...

Karen, here's an interesting story about Whitey Ford. My dad as a young man played a lot of semi-pro ball in and around Bergen County NJ. He was actually approached as a 16 year old by a scout from the St. Louis Cardinals who wanted to sign him to a minor league contract, but his mother would hear nothing of the sort. Anyway, my dad liked to recall the time that a travel team he played for went to Fort Dix to face an Army team that featured none other than Whitey Ford. My dad was proud to report that he was able to manage a single off of Mr. Ford. Year's later, while working as a regional sales manager for a nationally known alarm company, my dad had to attend an event - a night at the races at The Meadowlands Racetrack - sponsored by the North Jersey Police and Fire Associations. My dad wasn't really feeling well that night and didn't want to go, but he had to. The special guests for this event that evening? Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford. And unbelievably, my dad hit the exacta that night. This brought Mickey and Whitey to my dad's side for congratulations and declaring that drinks are on Tom tonight. This was one of my dad's favorite memories, that he got to spend some time with these Yankee legends talking baseball and he even got to raz Whitey a bit about the base hit that he got off of him years before. According to my dad, Whitey and Mickey were gracious and genuine good guys. Sorry to take up so much space here, but maybe you could thank Whitey for giving my dad that moment. 

I certainly will Jim...as a matter of fact.  I might print this out for him so he can see how many people enjoyed him...he's a fantastic guy...I'm so glad to have him as a friend!
