Throughout my life I have been passionate about Color!  It has been fascinating to see how people react to color so differently.  It can sometimes give us energy or deplete us of our energy.  Color is so powerful!

One Day Redesigns offers homeowners personalized Certified Dewey Color Consultations.  It is one of my favorite things that I do.  It is very rewarding to make such an impact on homeowners with dramatic Color changes!

Recently, I was asked to speak for PERSI, the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho.  A week later, one of their employees called me about doing an Exterior Color Consultation for her home.  She said she was unable to attend my presentation, but heard rave reviews from her co-workers.

Before - Updated neededAfter - Wow! What a Difference! Before - An Overgrown BackyardAfter - A New Outdoor KitchenBefore - Overgrown and UnderseenAfter - Crown Jewel of the Neighborhood!

They planned on using a new vinyl coating technique on the exterior of their home because it would last a lifetime.  It was critical to make the correct color choice because of the cost and longevity of this treatment.  She and her husband were afraid of making a costly color mistake.

When I met them for the first time at their Color Consultation, I asked them how long they had been struggling with this color challenge.  They said "S i x   L o n g   M o n t h s !"  They told me they were empty-nesters, always helping everyone else and this was the first time they were able to work on their own home.  I told them I understood because throughout my life I was used to taking care of everyone else's needs before my own.  We laughed at how long it takes people like us to do something for ourselves.

They were very excited to have their We Make Color Easy personality test to determine their new exterior colors for their home.  We discovered they both liked the golden warmer tones according to their results.  They were very eager to get started on their update!

Their home was vinyl coated with their new color palette.  It started a whole new revolution of changes for their home.  The overgrown landscaping was replaced with trees, shrubs and flowers to match their new warmer colors.  They also installed an outdoor kitchen, in their backyard, for entertaining their friends and families.

Their home is now the "Crown Jewel" of the neighborhood.  They have told us that people come by frequently to see their home in this quiet neighborhood.  They just love how much their home and life has improved!

What do you think about their update and new Colors?

Irene ~ I think it looks so much better!  In the before pictures the house just fades into the background, both in color and with the overgrown landscaping so close to the house.  It's funny that you posted about this new vinyl coating because I just saw a van this week when I was driving that was for a company that does this and I had never heard of it before.  I thought it sounded interesting and wondered what it might look like.

Pam ~ Thank you and yes, it is amazing that this is the same transformed home.  There was lots of work done on it, but they were determined and I kept telling them it would be worth it in the end!  Unbelievable on what a difference all of the changes came about with this couple ready for change.  It has truly improved enriched their lives and others.  They are now the favorite hang out for family functions and they just love it!  Color plus an attitude to change made a difference!

Irene, It looks just amazing and I can SO relate!   I am very good at helping others decide their color choices but my own are difficult.  I am doing that right now and wish you were closer, I need an objective eye :)

Kathy~  Isn't it amazing what changes occurred after we got the Color selected and chosen.  The overgrown shrubs and landscaping prevented the house to really be seen.  This vinyl coating is life time guarantee and they will color match it to any colors you choose.  Ours were from the Benjamin Moore Palette and they got it done.  The homeowners just love it.  I love making a difference!  Thanks for visiting, too!

Hi Gary~ Yes, I think that is sometimes how people get too stuck in a rut and we need someone from the outside to see the potential and realize with a plan and hard work and perseverance anything is possible!

Hi Carole ~ Always great to hear from you and your encouraging comments!  I know what you are talking about.  I understand and know that for our own personal homes it is more challenging to select those colors.  Well believe it or not I have started doing Color Consultations long distance and just did one last week for one of my client's Mother.  She and her husband are traveling across the country to do a kitchen remodel and we needed to help her get the color choices done first.  The daughter hired me, I tested the mother and found out what colors she preferred.  So now the cabinets and granite counter top were ordered here.  It will be transported across the country as they drive with their trailer.  It is going to be absolutely stunning!  The Mother and Father are so excited for their upcoming kitchen remodel on their old family farmhouse in Indiana.  Actually, the Mom said, "They are just tickled pink about it!"

Hi Duane ~Yes it is amazing on how much the right colors with the accent on the tudor slats in the brick red really made the other colors pop!  Isn't it enlightening what can happen when you have a vision and ready for change.  Love when this happens!  The couple were the nicest people, too!  It made it that much more rewarding!

Hi Kathy Mohr ~ Great to hear from you Girlfriend!  Well, I may not have actually helped them pull out their shrubs, I advised them that all of their overgrown shrubs were blocking the beauty of their home.  Once the colors were selected a plan was in place and it started a whole reaction of change that really transformed this home!  Thanks for visiting, too!

Love the color choice Irene! It's fresh and charming all at once. Great decision to remove those evergreens (or cypress?) from the house - the new landscaping is perfect.

Hi Karen ~ It never ceases to amaze me on the impact of Color!  It really changes not only the indoors but the outside of a home, too!  Yes, overgrown evergreens preventing the painting job to work well.  But the homeowners were motivated and ready for an update!  They were very fun and special people.  I am so glad their lives have been enhanced.  Thanks for your encouragement, too!
