Rancho Santa Margarita schools are some of the best in the country. There are two school districts: Saddleback Valley Unified School District, and Capistrano Unified School District. Both districts have award-winning schools and programs. In addition to a phenomenal public school system, Rancho Santa Margarita has several exceptional private schools, including highly regarded Santa Margarita Catholic High School.
There are two community colleges, Saddleback College and Irvine Valley College, as well as University of California, Irvine, California State University, Fullerton, and several private universities from which to obtain an higher education degree.
