The master-planned community of Rancho Santa Margarita in Southern California is nestled against the western edge of the Santa Ana Mountains, nearly half-way between San Diego and Los Angeles, in the County Of Orange.  Its ideal location offers the best of all worlds to its roughly 54,000 residents.  Rancho Santa Margarita's motto, A Small City with the Soul of a Small Village, is brought to life in the city's successful blend of small city offerings and local village intimacy. Rancho Santa Margarita claims the most letters in a city name within the State of California.  It's no wonder that many residents simply refer to their community as "RSM".

CNN's MONEY Magazine rated Rancho Santa Margarita among Top Ten of America's Hottest Towns in their 2004 survey, dubbing it the Ultimate Commuter's Compound.  Close proximity to the major employment center of Irvine, as well as numerous other business and financial districts throughout the county, makes RSM an ideal location from a commuting standpoint.  Additionally, Orange County's beautiful beaches are a only a short drive away and local mountain resorts and desert playgrounds are close enough for day trips or weekend getaways. Hikers and campers can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and native landscape of  O'Neill Regional Park just a hop, skip and a jump down the road.

RSM Lake

Rancho Santa Margarita has its own 13-acre, man-made lake where residents enjoy boating, fishing and kayaking.  The 1.1 mile loop around Lago Santa Margarita is ideal for walkers, joggers, and skaters and includes a par exercise course.  The Beach Club & Lakeshore have a swimming lagoon with a beach, two sand volleyball courts, barbeque and picnic facilities, an outdoor amphitheater, and the Fiesta Room, which can been reserved for meetings or special occasions.

I have lived in Rancho Santa Margarita for 9 years growing up in my teens. I am not 17 and going to college in a very small town in East Texas. Being away from home has made me appreciate RSM so much more. Its an incredible place to live.
