Home Selling Tips for a Tough Market

The real estate market in South Florida for sellers is still rough to say the least. Some people have had their South Florida homes for several months with very few to no buyers while others are continuing to hold out until the market improves.

But let’s say your unique situation is forcing you to sell your Miami home right now, what do you do? These home selling tips may not get you an instant offer overnight but they should help you out as long as you approach the situation as a business and remove your personal attachment to the property.

Get started. Even in relatively healthy markets, it’s still going to take some time to sell the property and the chances of the home eventually gaining in price within a short timeframe are slim. Instead of hoping things will get better, put it up for sale or you may end losing more in the long run.

Spruce up the home. Everyone knows about this one. Spend a little to make the house look inviting to buyers and get rid of personal belongings or custom color schemes. The buyer may not share your tastes.

Make it affordable. Just because you’ve spent a large amount of money on its renovation does not mean those costs should be factored into the home price. In fact, you may have to sell at a loss but in the long run, you’ll get the home sold much quicker.

Don’t hire just any real estate agent. You obviously want to ensure the proper credentials and track record but unlike years before, you also want to seek out an insistent Florida realtor. Look for agents that will go above and beyond just sticking a For Sale sign on your lawn and listing it in the proper venues, those methods are tried and true and do you no unique favors.
