Stymeist Auto Body and Frame shows us that Low VOC’s aren’t just for houses any more!

Stymeins Auto bodyMany of us know about the health and environmental benefits of using Low Volitile Organic Compound paints in our homes; paints that have much less "off gassing," don't smell as bad, and are much less harmful to both us and the environment. What many of us don't know is that not only is it possible to go low on the VOC's in our homes, but these days even automotive finishes are going Low VOC!
Here in Amador County, Steve Stymeist, owner of Steymeist Auto Body and Frame in Jackson, has switched over to PPG's low VOC waterborne basecoat system. Stymeist is proud to run the first body shop in Amador County to move to this new green technology. "This helps us do our part to improve the quality of our air and contribute to an overall healthier work environment," he explained. "This is a major technological advancement with no downsides. Not only is it better ecologically, it gives better color matches and is faster to complete a repair than the systems we were using before." Although somewhat more expensive right now than the old solvent borne system, the benefits are worth the cost.

Amador County is greening!

Thanks for bringing up a good topic!! I have a client that wants a low VOC painted house. Now how on earth do you search for that in the MLS?!?!? Help!

I don't know about your MLS, (ours would not have any way to search for that) but one thing you could try would be talking to any and al EcoBrokers® in your area to see if they have any listings that might fit. That is easy to search for Just Search for a local EcoBroker®.

One other option, repainting is not that expensive...
