Buy From Me Or Get Out Of My CarLast November I wrote a post about Steve Stewarts famous (infamous?) button that say's "buy from me.. or get out of my car!", I was lamenting the loss of my button years before...

then... my good friend Linda Davis found an extra one lying around the office.. and sent it to me!

So with five sets of transferee's under my belt and several local buyer's.... I would have to say that the vote is in... the overall reaction is one of...

BEMUSEMENT

That's right... the buyer's "get it"

the reactions have been:

"Hey Honey, look at this!"

"Hey Honey did you see this?"

a chuckle... and a long drawn out "NIIIICE!" and then a "sweetie.. look!" as he taps on the visor

and my favorite..

"Can we wait until we we get the job offer?"

Moo, I love that button. I would have been very surprised if you said buyers took offense to it. It is very funny! And makes a good point as well.

I want one!  Who do I need to whine to, to get one?

It's always nice when people know where you stand!

Glad you updated us with the new and improved Pin sent by Linda.  That pin Rocks and I will have to find one for my car as well.  As far as a buyer getting offended, you probably wouldn't want to work with them anyway, talk about a time saver!

It may also lead to a conversation for the unaware that we don't get paid until there's a closing, and that all our expenses come out of our pocket as well. Yes, most people know that, but it's surprising how many people don't.

Hiya Moo! It has been ages since I've heard that word and I love it -- bemusement. PS: Have someone make the buttons for you and add an extra dollar on, you may be able to quit real estate and just sell them to AR peeps :-)  - the button that is.

Moo, love the button..."can we wait till we get the job offer"... that's a puzzle...definitely need a job before buying a house. Did I miss something, there?

Moo... I still remember your original post on this. And I remember the discussion that took place. Placing the button on the seat for your clients would almost be like those tv shows that people do on each other... the hidden camera thing or you are on candid camera.  I would love to see their actual faces. Put a tape recorder in the car.... lol

Now I want one, too!  I've heard this phrase before, and it always gives me a chuckle.  Glad to hear your buyers enjoyed it, too.

OK Kristal.  I have one extra.  I promised one to someone last round and they never sent me their address.  So...you whined first so it is yours.  I wish I had a few more but I don't.  :-(

The button is in the mail!  Wear it with pride!

Angus, I know I'm a late comer to this blog, but it made me laugh so hard at a time when I had spent 9 months driving this guy around for him to dump me when I asked for commitment. Sheesh.

I am making them for everyone I work with for Xmas! It wouldn't be funny if it weren't so true!

OMG, Steve Stewart - I almost forgot about him - He is the most hilarious real estate trainer I ever saw or listened to.  Where is he now? - I'll have to google him - I could use some of his humor and training in the current market.

Holy Cow!

I am sooooooo rude! I've never responded to anyone in this post. I am so sorry!

This is going to take a while...

Bryant: For the past year the buyer's have all thought it was funny.. no issues at all. But, those are the folks that I like to work with.. a sense of humor and a grounded self

Krystal - I whined and Linda took care of me.. surprisingly I sent Steve Stewart several e-mails and he never responded to me at all.

Ines - You are right about working with folks that have a great attitude!

Sharon - The unaware are made aware :)

Michelle - To avoid potential copyright issues.. perhaps we ought to design our own pin.. like maybe.. "buy from me or get a wedgie" or.. "buy from me or start walking".. hmmm.... somehow those seem to lack some panache..

Carole - "bemusement" It's all in what you do with the definition... :) I'm (another of my favorite words) "perplexed"

Sandra - If I had them.. I would send them!

Gena - Sometimes the transferee does a quick "get to know the area trip" when they are interviewing or prior to the job offer.. those folks purchased from me two weeks later.

Cute button.  AND it gets the message across to the people your hauling around without recopense until the closing.

More people need to be upfront with the clients that you're more than a taxi!

There is no way they won't know where you stand on this topic.  They will either hate it and run away or love it and run to you.  I am sure you get a lot of the latter.

At over $4.00 per gallon now even more true than ever.  In today's mortgage market do you think a qualified motivated buyer is worth more than a great listing?

I have gotten into the habit of bringing buyers to my office and spend a number of hours drinking coffee, searching fo rhouses and working on the financing part of it, before I take them out.  This does not stop people from taking their time, but gives me the impression it may happen - find the right one - at every house we come in to.

Nothing on ebay, but there is a button with an image of Jesus that says:

What house would Jesus buy?

Which I thought was funny.

I spent almost a year looking with a relative, although I had asked her numerous times to not call me last minute to go look, she repeatedly did so.  One late Saturday afternoon, she called and said she wanted to go look at houses.  I said, great, what time tomorrow can we get together?  She himmed and hawed and said she wanted to look now, she had her friend with her blah, blah blah, and I didn't bite.  Well, she apparently found someone to show her places because she bought one.  It wasn't a big sale, but I was miffed none the less.  My hubby says to let it go in the interest of family gatherings, and with the holidays coming up, I'm going to see this person, so I need to decide how I'm going to handle it.

If anyone has suggestions that don't involve criminal offenses, I'd like to hear from you.

I NEED ONE OF THESE PINS!!!!!

Definitely let us know if you find a vendor. Funny but true. You can see from my tagline that I only work with people who are serious. Strangely enough, when I started saying that, more serious buyers began to call!

I came up with 100 of these buttons. They are $7.50 each, including postage. Exact same as picture above. Payment via paypal to e-store@new-all.com

Angus,

Great button!  It's the truth, buyers need to know that we're not driving for charity.  Sometimes they just don't understand how our business works.  This humor is great because it causes a buyer to think about actually buying.

Best regards,
Mike
