Lost Our Home Pet Foundation

As more and more foreclosures escalate and home owners are forced out of their homes, pets end up abandoned in the homes with little food and water.  The former homeowners assume a real estate agent or bank official will be by the home to inspect it, but in most instances that is not the case.  Pets end up with no food or water in hot or freezing homes with utilities shut off.

Some owners make attempts to place their beloved pets in no kill shelters or pet rescues, but most end up turned away.  Most of these shelters are already filled to capacity.

On June 25th, Jan Marie Bennett, a West Valley REALTOR and broker, along with several other animal loving REALTORS, formed and incorporated and non-profit organization called "Lost Our Home Pet Foundation".

Through the foundation, foster homes are found for abandoned animals and those surrendered by caring owners.

The Lost Our Home Foundation falls under the Prescott-based, pet rescue Circle L (Circle of Life) Ranch's 501c umbrella allowing tax-deductible donations.

Anyone interested in donating funds or apply as a foster family with the Lost Our Home Pet Foundation, contact Jan Marie Bennett at 480-226-4362.

Brigita, Thank God for people like you. I'm a former vet tech and deal with this problem a lot. Unfortunately most are vicious dogs that end up going to the "farm". But I've taken my share of pets, especially cats, had them vaccinated and fixed and put them in the paper free to a good home and qualified new owners to make sure they're not crazy...We have our work cut out for us but thanks for caring for the world's forgotten critters

Kim:

Last fall, I had to rescue a few abandoned barn cats.  Fortunately, we found a good home for them.

Tracey:

It's a shame when these poor animals end up fending for themselves.  They give their all to their owners and this is what they get in return.  :-(

We need more people to care about our animals.  God put them on this earth for us to enjoy and care for.  I'm an animal lover and I volunteer with the Lehigh Valley Animal Response Team just so I can help the animals in distress in emergency situations.  If we don't look out for them, who will??

Brigita, I am sure that with so many foreclosures on the market, abandoned pets are at an all time high. Good post, and I am glad that people in your area are doing something about it...

Michael:

It is nice to know that there are people out there that do care about animals.  We all have to remember that they are God's living creatures and look to us for love, companionship and help.

We are dealing with is issue more and more here on Cape Cod...I have made it a point to start a webpage for Renters that accept pets and renters who have pets.  You can feel free to refer them to my webpage that has tips on renting with pets etc...Every little bit helps! www.TaraStoneHomes.com click on Save Our Pets.

I know it easy to be angry with these Dog and Cat owners when we see what is happening..but getting angry and passing judgement doesn't help.  If you feel this..GET INVOLVED!  Be part of the solution and you may see a different side of this terrible issue.

Congrats on forming a organization...My hat is off to you..I would love to know more..is there a website?
