You would love Yukon for a lifetime! Great people, rich history, perfect location!

Just a few miles West from Oklahoma City you will be nicely surprised to find a city which offers relaxed and comfortable living, accredited five star ranked schools, great dining, wonderful shopping and plenty of community events.

Yukon is a city in Canadian County, Oklahoma, United States and is part of the OklahCentennial Clock in front of City Hall in Yukon, OK by Bo Kociuba, Realtoroma City Metropolitan Area. The population was 21,043 at the 2000 census.

It all started in 1891 with about 25 residents and A.N. Spencer, a cattlemen from Texas, who started building a railroad from El Reno to Arkansas. With help of his brothers they begun building a new town - Yukon. The biggest growth came from the Yukon Mill and Grain Company owned by Czech families - Kroutils and Dobrys. Yukon incorporated in 1910.

Yukon is the hometown of country singer Garth Brooks, actor Dale Robertson, 2001 Miss Oklahoma USA Cortney Phillips, the red dirt band Cross Canadian Ragweed and Hall of Fame Coach Ivan Wootton. In 1949, Yukon garnered national media attention because of the plight of Grady the Cow.

The Czech Hall, a national and state historic site, is devoted to preserving Czech customs, heritage, and culture. Community events include the Czech Festival in October, and the Chisholm Trail Festival in June. Yukon's sister city is Krnov in the Czech Republic.

Hi Bo,

Thanks for commenting on my first blog post - The Rain is so fun, so much to learn!  I love Oklahoma, I've only been to Durant and Lake Texoma.  I learned how to canoe in a river there! Happy Selling!

Great pictures Bo.  I have a friend that lives in Yukon, OK.  Although I have pictures of her family and her home.  I've never seen picturs of the town she lives in.  Yukon looks like a really great place.

Myrl,

thanks for taking time to share your remarks with me...so nice...

perhaps I know your friend - Yukon is relatively a small town (on growth spurt however), or maybe you would like to visit your friend ... lol...

Bo,

Thanks for adding me as an associate!  I searched AR for Yukon, and found your blog post about the history of the town.  I especially liked the link to Wikipedia's story about Grady the cow!  (I was a year old when that happened.)
