What Donald Trump says about Succeeding in Business!

By
Real Estate Agent with Silvercreek Realty Group

The definition of Success is a very personal thing, and different for each individual.  But, wheather you need to have a helicopter and Billions in the Bank to consider yourself a success, or success is defined on a smaller scale for you, the Principles of Success are the same.

Donald TrumpOne of these Success Principles is found in an old saying "If you want to have what successful people have, you need to do what successful people do."  I'm going to be BOLD, and put a modern spin on that by saying "If you want to have what successful people have, you need to think like successful people think."

So lets get into the mind of one of America's most successful businessmen, Donald Trump.  Here are some quotes from the Real Estate icon.

What separates the winners from the losers is how a person reacts to each new twist of fate.  The Real Estate and Mortgage Industries are going through some "twists of fate".  How you react will make all the difference in the world.  Are you going to sit around and wait for the "glory days" of '05 and '06 to return, or are you going to adjust to this market?  Will you say "Short Sales are too much work", or will you learn the tricks of the trade? Active Rain is a great place to find those cutting edge ideas that help you succeed in a down market.

Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.  Does the housing market feel like a battle to you at times?  Just remember, you can lose some battles and still come out on top.  Don't give up on reaching the success you've Dreamed of just because of some losses!  Keep in mind that these losses are temporary.  I often feel like when one door closes, another is opened in a short period of time! Maybe you need to look for those other ways to win the war. Trump Tower

If you're going to be thinking, you may as well think big.  Most people think small because most people are afraid of success, afraid of making decisions, afraid of winning. And that gives people like me a great advantage. Sometimes we think that to have twice as much, we need to work twice as hard.  Successful people will tell you that's not true.  They work smart, not just hard!  The difference is in the small daily disciplinces that make a huge difference!  So dare to THINK BIG again like you did when you were a kid!

I'm not running for office. I don't have to be politically correct. I don't have to be a nice person. Like I watch some of these weak-kneed politicians, it's disgusting. I don't have to be that way.  This may not have a lot to do with success, but I included it just because I got a kick out of it!  This is The Donald at his best if you ask me!  This is a good reminder that you must be true to yourself to have success.  Dont live your life by the public opinion polls!

I was relentless, even in the face of total lack of encouragement, because much more often than you'd think, sheer persistence is the difference between success and failure.  This ,in and of itself, is the key to Donald Trump's success!  Persistence is the great equalizer in the universe.  There may be people more talented, better looking, and luckier than I, but there will never be someone who out works me!

Pam, I happen to like him as well.  Persistance is just sheer Energy...the energy of not giving up.  It makes perfect sense to me.

We all know what sells in this business Pam!!! ; ) You know the old line, I'm just buying this magazine over here, ahem, for the articles. You believe me, right???

BTW, they had this one blog with like 100 comments a week ago with some title like I lost a listing to this big boobed agent, and all these women commenters were incensed by the title drawing them in, well hello, we have to take a peek and see if the person is a good writer, no? The one I wrote about Growing Your Business with Hookers was a huge hit. Maybe it's time to bring back Gary's edge again and look for some more Darth Vader posters ; ) Got to keep things fresh around these ol AR parts!!

But yes, you can help with your traditional AND your exciting illustrations. There is NO LIMIT to your talents.

Great post to remind us to keep going.  I can't think of any other career I would rather have.  Once I started making changes, this business started to become fun again.

The Donald is absolutely right and his success proves it, regardless of what someone thinks of him.

Good for you Sandra!  YOu need to enjoy what you do!

Rob~I changed the name of my post to Success in Business instead of Success in Life....You're right~I probably wouldn't sign up for a marriage counseling class from him, although I think it would probably be really funny!

You have done it again!  Well said.  Success is defined by ones belief.  I am not loaded, could lose a few pounds, and have hair color drama going on right now.  However, I have a happy family, close friends, and a comfortable place to lay my head.  I am one of the most successful people I know!

PAM - I know that a lot of people don't like Trump's personality, but I think that he is great.  I love the way that he speaks his mind, and we can all learn a lot from him.  Thanks for sharing some of The Donald's philosophy with us.

Pam,

I'm late to the party, but I really appreciate this post!  The Donald was an up and coming real estate developer in the 80's, and came within a hair's breadth of going under.  What he says about persistence is really true.

Hi Pam,  Donald is successful in business.  He is courageous and willing to take radical risks!  He is strong when he faces barriers.  He will smash right through them!  He is hurting big time in some of his closest relationships.  That is his greatest challenge to overcome!

Eva~Thanks for visiting!  Glad you got your pep talk!

Dan~ I used to think that about the Donald too, but as I look at his kids, he seems to have done at least a few things right with them.  I don't know for sure, but that is my observation.  Either way, he does know what he's talking about in Business.  That is indesputable!  Thanks for commenting!
