I was invited here by a very nice comment on my page, Active rain is such a great support system I did not have a clue how powerful this site it..., could you please Pray for my Friend Carol..

The woman that raized me

Friday we went to the doctor with the most wonderful woman, she is 54 years old and was there for me so very much growing up and i appreciate her dearly.... My mother worked full time + and Carol was my disciplinary, she was my best friends mom and took me on as a second child ..... I will never forget all she did for me....The doctor told us that her small cell lung cancer was terminal and she had less than one year to live.... WOW how do you swallow that.. we cried of course and we held her and now we are just Numb to the news... I am determined to make her smile, she was instructed to make a list of all the things she wanted to do before she passes..... Knowing we did not have alot of money to spend......On her list she had many things, visit Sea world, go see her daughter's new home in Florida, a massage, shopping spree, trip to Branson, several other things, these are things she talked about for a long time... SO what i have done is set up a massage , hired a makeup artist to teach her how to put on fake eyelashes and do her makeup ( the kemo took all of her hair and lashes) then to lunch and a new outfit to talk her home in.... I realize that these are material things, I just feel I cant do enough, I cannot imagine how I would react having that news .... we are looking into Manateck and other self help options, but they are very costly....Please pray for her , I believe! I will foward your prayers to her on Wenesday.Thank you Kristie

I have never gone through what you are going through, sis......I know Gods heart is very near you and He is comforting and walking with you all the way through this.....

Thanks for the update. These are very precious months that you now share with Carol and the other women. Take the time to create special moments for all of you. Your faith is extremely important at this time, it is the support that will sustain you. My prayers are with you Carol and th other ladies.

Kristie, i have just prayed for you and for Carol. I've asked Him to grant peace that passes understanding. Your poem is so heart-touchingly beautiful, bringing tears to my eyes. Thank GOD that this is NOT the end, but the beginning for Carol.... GOD promises we will see our loved ones again. I pray you will not lose that hope, that you will become sustained on this side, and become prepared to release Carol into the arms of a loving Savior who will attentively minister to her in ways you can trust Him to.

Update-- it wont be long now, hospice has been brought in and they have moved from morphine by a pill to Chrystal morphine by mouth, it is terrible the side effects all this does to her. This is by far the hardest thing that any of us have had to endure, she wont eat anything and sleeps most all day and night.. I thank god for that last Friday at Red Lobster with her, that was her very last day, now confined to her home she is not able to do much of anything... we are bracing for the worst..

Last night i had an awesome dream, Amy and I were standing on a windy road by Bills farm , He was up on the porch rocking in his chair and in the distance we saw a very faint and fuzzy Carol riding Misty ( her horse that passed a couple of years ago) and she rode up to us and had on a Royal blue Shirt and sitting on a Purple blanket, giggled smiled and laughed and raced off into the pastures, it was a wonderful dream...

Thanks for the update. With the passing of my father-in-law, I became acutely aware of the signs and process of the transition; the lack of appetite, sleeping all day and keeping a fetal position. Aware of my presence and the conversations around him, he was almost like a quiet newborn. We continued to pray and speak to him, it was comforting to us all. Although it may not appear to be so, this time is just as precious as the time spent at Red Lobster. The time will come when you will treasure these moments. I will continue to pray for Carol and her loved ones.

Last Update..... Carol has passed , we were all there with her, no pain, it happened so very quick, we got the call and we were there, 5 or 6 hours is all we had, hard breaths then small breath and then gone.. Memorial is Monday , memory boards are being made by us girls, Thank you all so much for your lovely blogs some of them will be read at the Memorial, and it inspired me to write something to read to my dear family members on that day, we are having a celebration of her life on Monday. I will forever and always remember carol and I will carry what she put in me forever.... Thank you all so much, your words meant the world...

it is a new day update..I am having a good day, this is yet another update... , carol would be so proud.. she wanted us to scatter her ashes on her late husbands grave, and then place the rest of her in her favorite creek on Bills land, So.... we set out with her ashes and strapped her in her seat-belt and went to go see grandma , carols mother , ( carol has not been able to travel to her mother because of the lack of oxygen... so we feel she got to see her mom ) had lunch with her and had a great visit and then to the grave site to visit Lisa's father and to give carol a partial final resting place with him... doing this was not easy, feeling and tears flowed, but all in all she made us laugh all day , we included her in on conversations and told her stories, (no I am not crazy , but at the time it really felt like she was still with us) then the day we were going to the creek, it was a terrible storm and lightning and so we were not able to go , SO ... another place on her list was that Carol really wanted to see was Lisa's home in Florida, SO, on the plane she went, Now she is at Lisa's home in Florida and when Lisa comes back to visit we will all go to the creek together .... What a story, she is never going to be gone to us...

another thing we found was letters,

she left them around the home for Bill to find, one said...

Please Toad, (that is what she called bill)

I want my memorial to be a party for all my loved ones,

Love Frog

another said,

Remember me with smiles and laughter

for that is how I remember you

If you can only remember me with tears

Then don't remember me at all.

o.k. so I am crying now but they are happy tears...

Now that it has been a week since the memorial,

I feel her guidance and love and we will have that forever.

She was a very wise and loving woman - just look at the legacy that she left behind. I will try to be as fondly remembered as she is - that will all depend on how I live my life - she is an inspiration to many.
