remax times onlineA while back I wrote a story about how I was using short video clips that I loaded to Flickr to help out of town clients relocating to Denver from the east coast make a decision on a home purchase.  You can read about it here.

After that, I was contacted by the RE/MAX Times and they wanted to write about it.  The story was featured this week in the RE/MAX Times Online.  Here is a screen shot and here is the article itself.  It is currently featured as the top business story on their RE/MAX Times Online page.

The funny part is, when I found on Wednesday that  it was up there, I was in a bit of a rush to get out the door - as I had to run out to see another home for another buyer - this time from the west coast.  Again, brought the Flip and had a link with clips emailed to them about an hour later.

Its interesting, I had all of these ideas of what I was going to use the Flip for when I bought it.  I figured I would be recording shots around town for video tours and things of that nature.  I haven't really had time yet to do any of that and I certainly didn't imagine when I first got it that emailing video clips of showings would be its main use as it has been so far.

Not only am I enjoying the new technology introduced to me almost every day, but enjoying thinking of new ways to use it.

By the way, look right above the red arrow on the screen shot - and there you will see the article about Blogger's Advice:  - AR members will recognize the name Jim Crawford as well.  Nice to be on that page with you Jim.

Good job, Steve.  That sort of exposure from an outside publication can only help you!

Thanks Mike - It was actually nice speaking with the gal writing it.  And it was a bit funny to me that I had another one just like it this week as well.

STEVE - Congrats on getting featured in RE/MAX Times.  I had an article featured there a long time ago.  I didn't even realize that there was an online version.  Do you have a link to it besides the article?

Adam - Thanks.  I think its available through the RE/MAX Mainstreet site after you log into their site.  I'll email you the link.

Congratulations.  I went on Main Street to check it out.  Seems RE/MAX is starting to pick up on our blogs.  Better watch what we say :-)

Cindy- Thanks for looking.  That's probably good advice all around if folks aren't doing that to begin with for some reason.

Steve:  Congratulations on your 'feature'!  I will follow the link to read after this comment though but, I've heard so much about the 'flip' and am seriously considering purchasing one.  I'm just a bit shy as I'm worried that very soon something better will be released and I won't buy it b/c I've just bought the 'flip'!  I'll have to see what you've done with it!

Steve:  OH MY!  That is SUCH good quality video!  Is this done with a 'free' account?  Is there a certain model of Flip camera that you have or are they all the same?  Lastly, how long did it take you to upload this particular video, the email it to your clients?

Again, congratulations and that was a great article!

Congratulations and thanks for sharing your ideas with us!  I keep telling my REMAX broker how much REMAX acknowledges our AR members...this  is more proof!

Debe - I am glad you checked it out.  After getting the video off the Flip and to the computer (easy) you just need to compress it (I think its called Share) and that is the longest part - maybe 10 minutes, depending on how much you have, although that is easy too.

As far as the Flcikr account, I do have a Pro account and I think you do have to have that to upload video, but I am not 100% certain.  However the benefits of having the pro account are worth it and it is very affordable.  I think that Flip did just come out with a new even smaller camera called the Mino or something like that, so the regular Flip price has come down considerably.  Mind is the 1 hour one - I think there is a 30 minute one as well.  I think its worth it.  And my kids love to use it too.  I do need to get some kind of tripod though, but in these cases, these were just quick walktroughs that I needed to focus on specfic things.  It can only get better, right?  But for community videos or anything like that, I would most certainly use a tripod.  Thanks for all of your comments Debe.

Chris - Thanks, this is an easy one to try - go for it.

Diane - Yes, I think you are right about that.  And I did really enjoy talking to the gal that wrote the article as well.  Across the board it was a positive experience.
