Palm Harbor was once called Sutherland, Florida! Not nearly as attractive a name as Palm Harbor, the same Sutherland came from somehow taking the Southern Land and Development Company's name and using various letters to get a town name. There are some who think that the name Sutherland originally came from the Duke of Sutherland, who supposedly visited this area in 1887. However the name came to be, the town got its official name back in 1888. At that time Sutherland was part of Hillsborough County!

In 1925 the sleepy town of Sutherland became Palm Harbor. That little town has grown and now includes a beautiful new University High School with it's own medical magnet program! Students come from all over the county (now part of Pinellas County) to attend this wonderful new school!
The towns of Ozona, Crystal Beach and East Lake will be voting this coming November on whether or not they want to join Palm Harbor in becoming an official town! If the town does become officially incorporated, it will be the first new official town to be created within Pinellas County in the last 40 years! It is all up to the local voters!
This growing community is a wonderful place to live!!! If you are thinking of purchasing in the area, give us a call! We would love to show you around!!!
