You Brokers will appreciate this!  I was talking with another broker one day and he shared with
me that in his office he had MANY SECRET AGENTS!  At first I didn't get it and wasn't sure what
he meant so he explained.  He said that they never give out business cards, never send letters,
never call expireds or FSBO's, or call of new clients.  They are his SECRET agents.  They want to
keep it a secret that they are in the business of selling real estate.

Do you have any SECRET AGENTS in your office?  Sometimes they are so secret that they don't
even come to the office.  Then they complain that they have no business, no leads and this
real estate business is so hard.

GUESS WHAT?  Don't be a SECRET AGENT.... tell everyone that you're in the business of
selling REAL ESTATE and see if things will change for you
.  I promise you - it WORKS!

Good luck selling.  Sincerely,  Dagmar Sands - Real Estate International Inc.

Effort = Results. We are responsible for our own results. Not others, not the bad media and press, not the consumers, not our brokers, not our companies, WE are responsible. We have to be proactive and generate the businesses.

Dagmar,

Great name and post. I heard a Real Estate trainer say years ago that you could be one of the most knowledgeable, best agents, but if you holed up in a Holiday Inn all the time, you'd never make it.

I do think there is a tendancy to hesitate to market, hesitate to preview, hesitate to do the things we are uncomfortable with and it leads to complacency and regret. I've been guilty of it myself.

Mike, I love your quote effort=RESULTS...

Thanks Trunda, I am glad you agree.

Bob, I know that we are all guilty of certain things but being aware that if face your fears
you LIVE your dreams.

Dagmar, it's so true.  One could be the best lawyer, agent, appraiser, banker, inspector, or hair dresser for that matter.  But if people don't know about you...it doesn't matter.  Marketing, marketing, marketing!

That is a great way to put it.  I see a lot of agents that carry that lable

How Funny.....that's such a good idea to keep in mind...I don't want to be a SECRET AGENT!!!  (Thanks for encouraging me on my blog, you made my day).

For an introvert like me, I have to fight being a Secret Agent all the time.  The energy really seems to flow when I force myself to get out of my comfort zone and be around other agents and potential clients.

Yes I know a few. I am very happy to everyone that listens that I am a real estate agent...Not once but twice just in case they missed it the first time.

I try to leave my card wherever I go.  I just recently started to give it to the teller at the bank.  I might start giving it out while in the McDonalds drive through.  You never know whose looking to buy that first house.

Dear Michelle, Sharon, Donna,Melody, David, Earleen and Gary,

Thank you so much for your input and comments.  I think we all agree on the subject and I'm glad
that when we post information here we can all have a chuckle, learn together and agree on so many
things.  Have a wonderful week - to all of you!  Go out and tell everyone what you do - We are all in real estate!  Dagmar Sands

Dagmar

I couldn't agree more if we are real estate professional, let people know what we do and we can help them or someone they know. Secret agents become missing in action agents.

Good luck and success

Thank you Lou, you're so right.  Let's all get out there and let everyone know we sell real estate.

Very true post and I love that they're referred to as "secret agents". I'll have to remember that phrase.

Exposure, exposure, exposure.. Dagmar.. you are so right!  You can't build a business by staying in the background... you have to find clients .. and make it possible for them to find you.  Do the hard work up front and reap the harvest over time.

08/05/2008 12:47 PM by Jon Wnoroski, Summit County Realtor (Geneva Chervenic Realty, Inc.)

That is HILARIOUS...I needed a good pick me up this afternoon. AMEN reap what you sow!!!

Work hard and tell everyone what you do...and you just might earn a decent living.

This is a syndrome that's not always easy to diagnose :)

It didn't take me long to figure out I wasn't saying enough so I quickly changed things around.  If I don't get a chance to tell them, the name tag will alert them.

I have been telling my agents for years not to be Secret Agents.  It is a term I have often used in my trainings.
