Our family just returned from our annual fishing/camping trip to Seiku Washington. I was almost 4 days outside of cell phone range, which while it was challenging for Kelly and Sue who covered my calls and maybe and maybe not for the agents who took all of the leads that came it was wonderful for me.
I love it because there really IS no way to do business there and so I come back very refreshed. There is also plenty for everyone to do. The kids are entertained with no TV and no video games. They get to spend time with cousins and just be outside all day. The older ones spent almost half of the time on the docks @ Seiku catching and releasing little fish. They really never tired of it and could hardly be torn away even to eat. I love seeing the cousins getting to spend time together since we are all so busy. ( between our family and my inlaw's family that comes up there is a Lawyer, an office manager, and network engineer and of course a Realtor) It's great just to be away from work together and really it is the only time I really get to spend with my Dad in law and his wife each year. Really refreshing.
The luxuries offered by Olson's resort in Seiku ( the term resort is used loosely) are hot running water, showers, electric hook ups at a # of the camp sites, and toilets ( as opposed to out houses), and coin op laundry. My Dad in Law takes advantage of the electricity and actually brings a full sized freezer ( for all the fish we catch) a toaster, electric grills and more. We have pretty much a full working kitchen there. Really if you must camp this is the way to do it in my opinion, I don't know if I can do much more rustic, although I managed to go 3 days with no makeup!
What I love about this trip too is the fact that there is something for the whole family. For my husband it is the fact that we are near the rainforest and a great Steel Head fishing river. For the kids it is the little fish off the doce and the somores at the campfire. For me, it's no cell phone, a novel and the fact I can sit on the beach!
