I was just reading Robert Scoble's blog tonight, and yesterday he wrote a post about a killer app for cellphones called Jott and I thought that I would write a post about it for ActiveRain by using it. I am actually right now just leaving a message on my cellphone at the Jott number and its gonna transcribe it and send it to me in an e-mail. I am just gonna copy and paste it right into the post so you can see how it works.

That is SOOO cool Jeff! Thanks for sharing - I thought I was reading a TOMATO cool new tool there for a second - I'm off to take a look (I did see the video though) - I wonder what they will charge? (btw -their difference in body language is pretty funny)

So... how did it work?

It looks like it spells correctly and punctuates correctly... I am afraid I would loose my "signature" style.

Okay - I have been "talking" with the CEO - John Pollard about this awesome company. Heads Up --

From my personal experience ... JOTT may not be completely set up to receive/interpret multiple long blog posts, as of yet. Currently they are set at 15 second recordings at a time.

What happened? I was so excited about this service (I have it on speed dial too!)! I was waiting for my kids to get out of school and wrote a post about E85- Ethanol Fuel and another post about the new Keller Real Estate Research center- handwritten in a little Composition book that I keep in my car. Well, it dawned on me that I could just use JOTT to have it emailed to me and then I could put it from my email to my blog tonite. SO I called and recorded my posts. Not 10 minutes later I receive a voicemail message from the CEO, himself, John Pollard (super nice guy!) telling me that my recordings were flagged ... ?

Apparently, some of their competitors are calling JOTT and reading off magazines and books - just to tie them up and cost them money. My posts were long enough that it set off the "red flag" ... I sent an email to JOTT as soon as I got home (my cell reception stinks in my neighborhood...) explaining exactly what I was doing and that I was in no way trying to cost them money.

I immediately received a reply from Mr. Pollard with an explanation to why I was "red flagged", a sincere apology for the mistake and a little additional info on their service. He assured me that I could still continue recording for my blog (since he now knows that I am legitimate), but to make sure I speak slower. (The NYer in me talks so dang fast! Christine ... Be careful!) He also mentioned that it was an excellent way to take notes on properties for our clients.

I cannot stress how impressed I was with Mr. Pollard and how he dealt with this. He followed up with me personally and professionally. This company rocks and so does the man behind it! Now, they ARE a brand new company and in the BETA mode at the time being. They are filling a much needed niche and will be offering a tiered service for long winded Realtors, like myself, in the near future. Until then, I guess I will practice being more brief!

Thank you, Jeff, for introducing me to this company and for letting me post this "long winded" comment on your post! Geesh! I guess I will never learn ...

Mariana, thank you for coming back with this. I should have included the 15 second limit in my post originally! This right now just for short burst of ideas. I think his idea about notes for your clients is right on. I tested some "jottblogging" today and their email coding is really funky, so it doesn't work right out of the box. Still, it rocks even for getting ideas out of your head and into a starter format without having to transcribe yourself. I used it twice today as idea starters.

Jeff-Incred. program I simply now need the time to figure out how it works!

Ardell... don't let it. Give it a try. There are some good uses even in it's "dumbed" down 15 second state. These guys are in your back yard too I think.

Oh no Ardell- I was not trying to squash anything. I think that it is a good idea to use it for note taking, brainstorming, shorter posts, etc., now and as they grow (and they will...) use it for bigger and better things. Thaty ARE in Beta, so you know they will be biggering and bettering every day.

Mariana, I'm going to be calling the CEO with the results of some of our tests yesterday. We ran several "auto post" tests that were horrid, but promising.

Jeff- You will really like John. He is super helpful and really cares about our experiences. Im sure he will be able to help you.

Mariana, your comment shoud be on their testimonial pages! You can't beat that kind of passion for a product.

I GOT IT WORKING!!

I've set up the Jott account, linked it to my Vitalist "action" section and used iCal to send it to my Google calendar. Sweet! Works great.

Now I can simply call in my "to dos" and they get instantly posted to my Google calendar. Love this Web 2.0 stuff.

Troy, I obviously agree. It's become invaluable for me when I am driving and a thought pops in my head. I used to lose those thoughts or risk a crash to write them down. :)
