I have written about the wonderful Hudson Valley Historic Estates.  Just recently I wrote about Montgomery Place which was built by Margaret Livingston Montgomery.  I also wrote about Rhinebeck schoolsand mentioned that the elementary school was named for Robert Livingston, well this was the site of his estate.  Yes, the Livingstons were a very influential family and large land owners.  Montgomery Place is on 434 acres and Clermont on 500 acres located on the banks of the Hudson River.

The property is now operated as a state park however to keep it running it depends on many volunteers.  The friends of Clermont throughout the year organized many events for fund-raising and also manage the volunteers.  So if you have some time to spare here is an opportunity for you to help maintain one of the region's treasure.

Jennifer, sounds like fun, but the last time I went bird watching, I got really really bad poison ivy!

A bird walk!  How facinating!  I wish they had that here in my area!  It looks like a blast!

Tracy - They have bird watching events several times during the year.   I can't think of a more scenic spot to engage in such activities.

Jennifer - very nice photos. I don't get up that way as often as I should. I guess I'm more of a Southern Dutchess girl!

Jennifer, what a gorgeous setting for a concert and a great way to spend the day. I love the photo of the lake but you know I am a lake girl at heart.

Yvette- I know exactly what you mean.  The men were dressed to do a reenactment of a trial of someone who stole sheep.  This was at the Wool and sheep festival at Clermont.

Carol - Thank you, southern girl you don't know what you are missing :)

George - That is a rather inexpensive entertainment.  The view alone is worth the trip.

Missy - I too love the water, the Hudson River is such a delight to have in the area.

Cynthia - Thank you, I love taking pictures of the things around me. I am thankful for digital cameras because with the non-digital camera I only took crooked pictures.  The Admin in my office always had a good laugh at my crooked houses.

Robert- It is truly a beautiful site.
