History tells us that in 1820, Jesse Ballew was one of the first white settlers to call, what was later to become Laclede County, home. In the years to come, more settlers followed. Land was surveyed to create Laclede County. In 1849 Lebanon was created as the county seat of Laclede County, Missouri.

Lebanon has a rich history of homes and buildings used for business. Many of the historic homes have been well cared for and remain today.

Since Lebanon and Laclede County have limited zoning laws, many of the historic homes are currently being used as Bed and Breakfasts, hair salons, tea rooms, offices or antique stores. Your imagination is probably the only limitation!

6 Comments on 5 Historic Homes Offered For Sale in Lebanon, MO

Neat houses Debbie... Land and houses are sure cheap out there... The same houses here would be hundreds of thousands more.

Wow, Debbie, thay are ALL lovely!   The first one captured my heart, I'd have to say that was my favorite.

Micheal - Homes and land are still economical. The best part - taxes are still reasonable too!

Carole - Yes, I love the first one too. Plus it's on 20 acres in the city limits! Historical homes on some land are hard to find.

I love all of them! I wish builders of today would turn back the clock a bit and put some of the old world charm and detail back into there work...

another great localism post on the inexpensive propeties available in your area.  People forget sometimes the wonderful things this area of the country has to offer. (let's keep it a secret a bit longer)  be good  cheryl

07/25/2008 10:37 AM by Cheryl Willis MO BROKER GRI MT VERNON (RE/MAX Properties)

Rick - I couldn't agree more! So many of the new homes today have no personality! (and no closets!) The homes of yesterday were built to be lived in!
