Ok, yes, it's not super original, but I have to say that the Point Defiance Zoo and Point Defiance park are some of my favorite places to go when I steal an afternoon off between Real Estate deals to hang out with my children.
If you have not been there is a while you will be pleasantly surprised. There is now a playground area, a mini water spray play area, a slide and more in one area. New animals and exhibits are the norm and not a surprise and of course on a hot day there is nothing like hangining out in the very shady cool atmosphere of the aquarium.
It's funny the animals are always fun to look @, but we rarely make it all the way through the whole zoo, and what my children enjoy most is not always the exhibits.
Some of their favorites include the metal family statue near the entrance of the Zoo which with out fail they want to play on. The hills in the open area near the entrance. ( they are really fun to roll down!) The petting zoo of course. Sitting out in the open eating lunch or snacks and chasing eachother around for tag is another favorite. The chance to ride all together in a wagon is also a highlight for the smaller ones even if it does leave me very tired at the end.
So, I used to only go to the zoo when we had the time to go through the whole thing...now however it could be just for a bit, we can come and just look @ a few critters and play a little too and knowing we have a zoo pass and can come back later for more makes it so that going to the zoo neither needs to be an infrequent trip or an all day one.
They've really made some great imporvements. My 3 year old daughter loves going to Point Defiance. Do you go to ZooLights too. That purple tree is insane!
