Square Dancing Aug 1, 2 at The Big Bear Middle School.  The annual Old Miners' Square Dance weekend invites dancers from Southern California clubs to join in the fun. Dance both Friday and Saturday nights, August 1st and 2nd, at 7:30 pm. There will also be a Squaredance Workshop from 12:30-4:30pm on Saturday. For information, please call 909.866.3784.

Horseshoe Tournament Aug 2 over at B's Backyard Barbeque.  Registration begins at 8:30 am and competition goes from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. Call for information - 909.866.4607.

59th Annual Miners' Day Parade Aug 3  Pick your spot along the Big Bear Boulevard route to see the finale of Big Bear Valley's Annual Old Miners' Days! Parade starts at 12:00 PM. For more information call, 909.866.4607.

Canoe Tours at The Discovery Center Aug 1,2,3,9,10,15,17,22,23,24,30,31  Learn how to canoe on a leisurely 2-hour guided tour of beautiful Grout Bay. After a quick paddling lesson, you will cruise along the shore looking for beaver, great blue herons, and ducklings. Along the way you will learn the natural history of the Big Bear Valley along with the various flora and fauna found in the area. Children must be at least 6 years old and all children need to be accompanied by an adult. Includes water and a snack. Tour starts at the Discovery Center and then caravans to marina. Fee: Adults $25, Children (6-16) $15

Kayaking Tours at The Discovery Center Aug 2,9,10,17,23,24,30,31  Learn how to kayak on a morning guided tour of Grout Bay.
