Discovery Green Park, Houston

Discovery Green is a 12 Acre park smack in the middle of Downtown Houston.  As you walk in to the Park, it appears to be like any other park that you have been to, but there is so much more.

Discovery Green is actually a LEED Certified Park!  On top of the Administration building and one of the Restaurants you will find a total of 250 Solar Panels, and across the way on top of The Grove you will find a Green Roof

All of this right across the street from the George R Brown Convention Center and about a block away from Minute Maid Park.

What else will you find here?  Oh my.  How about a Dog Park, a Lake with Remote Controlled Boats, Playground for the kids and splash pad for hot days. Or maybe you would want to go visit the Gardens and take a look at Native Plants, have a bite to eat in one of the two restaurants or picnic at one of the many tables.

This is one huge Splash Pad!  The kids had a great time running around and trying to figure out which one would spray next.

Right around the corner and within sight is the Playground and in the back is the lake where you can rent Remote Controlled Boats. Too fun!

To the right you will notice the Outdoor Stage where occasionally there is Live Entertainment or you can host an event.

Speaking of events, there is a Calendar of Activities being offered for both Children and Adults on about every day of the week.

Here is the Calendar

A few of the events are a Co-Op, Writing classes for Children, Yoga, Science Classes, and Dancing Under the Stars!

Discovery Green is 12 Acres of Fun!  There is so much to do, it can keep you busy for hours.  Don't Forget, it's Green in more ways than one. It's also right in line with Public Transportation, but parking is available-Of all places, right underneath.

You may have to pay for parking but Admission to the park is always FREE!

What a fun place!  I think the splash pad would be a huge hit during the Houston August!

The convention center and the park look great. When I lived in Houston that part of the city had yet to undergo any type of urban renewal. I am glad to see it happening at last.

Hello Mrs Edwards-Musa.  Very interesting blog.  Have you heard anything recently about property sales events in Montgomery Trace?  Is the market for vacant lakefront estate lots improving?

Hi Stephanie - Great post about Discovery Green! It received so much positive press when I was in Spring TX I was bummed I didn't get over there! What a great place for someone who wants to live close to the city to be able to enjoy amenities that they normally have to drive out of the city to get to! This is a must show for anyone looking to purchase a home in the city of Houston...especially if they have children!
