I was seriously tempted by salepeople to get a booth at a Real Estate Expo. Both times I ended not signing up, but I was not sure whether I was missing on a golden marketing opportunity or not, so when I somehow managed to miss the Expo in Orlando, I was relieved that I could visit the Expo in Miami. It is a 4 hour drive and it gets expensive with gas prices over $4 a gallon, but it was still closer than Long Island, so there we went.
The Expo is free for visitors, with only a couple of seminars for a fee. Of two days we stayed only Friday, therefore I made it to the Short Sale 3 hour seminar by Sharon Restrepo.
Interestingly, I knew practically everyting she was saying, but the way she presented it and the way she suggested for the brokerage was eye opener a few times, enough, that I felt my 4 hours drive and $49 fee were well justified.
I wasn't really thrilled by other presenters, and mostly spent the rest of the time there on the floor checking the booths. There were not many guests, as I noticed, most of the traffic was by curious participants venturing from booth to booth.
Surprisingly, I did not see any exhibits by local Miami developers. Miami real estate managed to miss the Expo completely. You could find developments from Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, and even UK. Not Miami. Was a little bit strange. I wanted to make arrangements with Miami realtors, representing developers, so that I could place those condo high-rises on my website. Alas, I made these arrangements with representatives from Panama, though.
Not overly impressed after all, I now know that getting a booth there would have been a waste of money, but visiting is a different story and I always pick something helpful and would attend a show when it is within my reach.
