StagersLIST.com and Welcome Home Furniture Rental created the first annual Bay Area Stager Expo held this past Thursday in Dublin, California at Welcome Home's warehouse.  From all accounts it was a huge success and we are thankful for all of the A/R members that came from far and wide to participate, learn and have some fun! We had Professional Stagers from all designations including CSP, ASP, IRIS, Naked Stagers and more come together to learn about moving their businesses forward.

Christine Rae, CSP President was the key note speaker who travelled from Canada to speak about trends in the design and staging world. Christine is also the author of the book that Linda Barnett worked as technical editor on Home Staging for Dummies.

I presented a talk on Marketing Your business Daily and Terrylynn Fisher, Diablo Realtor, spoke about Realtors need today from their Staging Professional.

Professionals that help make up our full service staging teams had booths and discussed their benefits and service throughout the day. Some of those professionals included Brian Rogan, CCC Carpets - who gave a fabulous harmonica performance as a bonus

Got Junk? and PODS - both brought in huge displays that made quite an impression. RESA had a booth staffed by Shell Brodnax who also gave a talk on the benefits of RESA membership the only true trade association for our industry. We had over 18 vendors and sponsor attend our event and we could not have done it without them!

Donna Lynch & Amy Box Welcome Home Furniture              Shell Brodnax, RESA

Christine Rae, Certified Staging Professional & Amber Arias, Vision HomeStaging & Design

The same speakers travelled to the EXPO Daily in Sacramento on Friday to do it all over again. Lori Kim Polk, Artful Journey Designs and Staging organized the event with Welcome Home Furniture of Sacramento.  The entire group was very impressed with the EXPO Daily facilities. Beautiful and perfect for the full service stager who needs to have a full list of service professionals at their figure tips.

Valesca Bogard, Welcome Home Furniture, Sacramento

A/R's very own Michelle Minch, Moving Mountanis Design and Staging flew up from Los Angeles to attend the Sacramento Expo and we had the opportunity to have dinner and make plans for a Los Angeles Expo in the near future!

Ronelle Schroeder-Hill ~Oomph! Home Staging & Redesign, Michelle and Joe Kaspari of Essential Staging, and Lisa Bozaich, Act I & Act II, Dramatic Staging traveled to BOTH EXPO DAYS! Oh my the power of Active Rain!

Kym, Oh how I wish I could have been there. Maybe I can attend next year. It looks like it was a great success.

Kym ~ That's fantastic!  It sounds like it went perfectly.  Love the pics!

Thanks for posting the pictures Kym! It was a great time; I was able to attend the Dublin Expo. I learned so much from Christine Rae about the importance of being on trend and about the difference between a trend and a fad. It was one of those aah haa moments, when she discussed how trends influence how people purchase, what drives people to purchase and who was doing the purchasing! KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!

It was also so fun to meet a lot of the people you talk back and forth with, read their blogs and see their pictures.

Thanks to everybody who made the event a success, I truly appreciate your efforts and sleepless nights!!

07/20/2008 12:31 PM by Amber Arias Home Staging Consultant & Interior Re-Design, ASP RESA IAHSP (Visions HomeStaging & Design Alameda & Contra Costa Counties)

This was an amazing event for sure. I am so proud that PODS and 1-800 GOT JUNK were able to make it. PODS has a great discount plan for RESA Members and we have our own website with them. In fact PODS is receiving the RESA Endorsement!  GOT JUNK is also coming on board with RESA for a discount program. BOTH of these programs will  help stagers in the marketing of their business.

It was so nice to be able to connect with so  many people and see people that I have not seen in years. KUDOS to Welcome Home and StagersLIST.com!! This event had well over  100 people in fact I think there were about 140ish?? What a huge accomplishment to bring so many people together in one place!

07/20/2008 12:33 PM by Shell Brodnax, President/CEO RESA

Donna, we would love to have you attend next year. We are organizing Expos in several areas around the country - next stop Los Angeles Area in the fall.  We will put you on the mailing list to keep you in the loop!

Hi Kathy - yes it went great. It took a village to get it all together as we only had two months to work on it. BUT when you have a great idea and lots of wonderful people to make it happens it does! Hope to see you at a future Expo.

Amber - thank you so much for being our official photographer at the Dublin Expo - you captured some great pics and its always great to see your smiling face :)  I loved watching you shake your head up and down in agreement throughout the presentation.

Shell - the sponsors were so great! A diverse and important group. thanks for all your help

I just can't say enough about the value for all of us in attending these Expos. The amount of information is astounding, the commeradery is wonderful, and everyone feels like they can conquer the staging world when they leave. The amount of people who attended both sessions just blew me away! Think of all the added knowledge and empowerment that you girls gave everyone. For those people who missed it... you better go to the next one! The overall feel is learning the most that you can for the industry and marketing yourself to advance your business. You can't get that information anywhere else... you just can't!

Putting together an Expo is a HUGE job. I am exhausted, but you Kym.. put together the one in Dublin, sponsored it with StagersLIST, spoke on marketing... and then came to Roseville, sponsored the event, and spoke again! You must have rechargable eveready batteries. Don't know how you do it girl, I am so proud of you! And I am so proud to be a part of StagersLIST.com and these wonderful Expos!

Hugs ;)))

I wish we had one in the Northeast, what a wealth of information besides all the networking, socialization that goes on.  I love Expos.

Hey there Lori - it was a true partnership between StagersLIST.com and Welcome Home Furniture both in Dublin and Sacramento that made this happen. thank goodness for industry partners who believe in moving the industry forward in a positive way! On top of all the work it was so much fun! Especially meeting so many A/R members who I correspond with but have never met.  I look forward to many more Expos in the near future across the country.

Joyce we will put you on the mailing list and may need your help putting one together in your area! If there are others interested let us know - I believe this is the furture trend of our industry and there is no stopping us as we all work together to raise the bar.

KYM!  I had a wonderful time at the Expo in Dublin.  Having Christine speak and being blessed to learn from her again was just fabulous.  I also always LOVE the information you & Terrylynn have to offer.  I always learn something new from the two of you.  It was nice to see vendors that I've built relationships with and other stagers that I haven't seen in quite some time.  Thank you for putting it all together!  I see the Expos getting bigger & better in the years to come!

What a great accomplishment.  Would have love to attend.  I can only hope staging in our area will grow to the level of the West Coast staging and such an event will be possible.  Looks like a fun, educational event.  It also sounds like a lot of hard work went into making this event such a success.  Thanks for sharing.

07/20/2008 04:16 PM by Michele Hess, Simply Staged Inc. (Simply Staged Inc.)

Deb, yes we had so much fun. But that is always the case when a group of stagers get together.

Cheryl - you never know we might be coming your way in the future and will look you up to see if you can help.

Michele - we would have love to have you come.  Our industry is in such a growth pattern - I am sure we will be able to get it together in the East too.

Yes, it was such fun and yes, we need to talk about sponsoring an event out there. Only if Terrylynn and I can come of course! Would love to meet you and 140 of your closes staging friends from the area.  The key was getting the vendors to help pitch in. They were just great...let's chat!

I'd say you are light years ahead of home staging in the Hilton Head area.  Of course, many if not most of our homes are outright beautifully presented but still, the service is needed here.  I think there are only a few designers offering this service.

Ronelle - it was just wonderful to meet you - twice - at both expos. Isn't that a great photo of you and Terrylynn?  I am so glad you have  a big to do list. That means we have done our job. We need to get together more often - we are not that far away.

Diane thanks for commenting. Hilton Head does have some lovely homes, but a Professional Stager can help you in so many ways. Before and after the sale. You should find a professional in your area and put her/him on your team.  The marketing edge is amazing. Just today I am going to be taking a group photo with a local Realtor that I just started working on.  He is taking a team shot for his marketing as the team approach works so well.

Phyllis -you are on the list to talk to.  Terrylynn, my assistant Maya and I are putting some plans in place and will put you on the list to follow up with. You will be hearing from us!

Kieran and Celia - wonderful news! They will be a huge addition to your team. Did you find them here on the A/R?

Julia we look forward to seeing you at our East Coast event that Juliet seems to be coordinating :)

Kym,thanks for giving us the details of your recent meeting.  Linda and I are very jealous that it was so far away and that we could not join in on the fun.  There is just noting that can replace face to face contact with those that you have become acquainted with.  It really helps to create a life long bond, with like minded people.  Glad everyone had a great time.

07/21/2008 12:12 PM by Kym Hough, Staging Consultant , Staged to Sell, SF Bay Area, CSP (Staged to Sell & StagersLIST.com)

Kym, We were glad to be part to both events.  We are always willing to help in anyway we can to promote education and the Home Staging industry.  Welcome Home Furniture Rental is such an incredible company run by truly top-notch people, both in Dublin and Sacramento.  We are grateful to "collaborate" with such talented business people.

We were also grateful to announce the birth of the Sacramento Area Chapter of RESA lead by my beautiful and talented wife Michelle.  So if anyone did not attend the EXPO in Sacramento that may be interested in this chapter please let us know.

More than anything it is so nice to meet people in the industry and from Active Rain like Cathy Lee and Michelle Minch.  We only wish we could have met everyone and spent more time with those we did meet.

Kym, thank you for being part of our community, and promoting professionalism within the Home Staging Industry.

Joe, what a nice comment. Thank you to both you and Michelle. It was such a joy to meet you both.  We agree, it was so nice meeting Michelle Minch. She is so professional and interesting and great to talk about the industry with...we couldn't believe she flew up for the day to attend, but we were very happy she did.

Yes, Welcome Home are the perfect partners! As Terrylynn said in her talk "colloboration" is the key with our Realtors and our vendors.

Congratulations on the new RESA Chapter!

Here is a photo of you from the Sacramento Expo.  Thanks again for making such a big effort to attend both.

Hi Fellow Stagers,  What an exciting power ASP Staging has!  Look forward to educating sellers about the benefits.

07/21/2008 02:42 PM by Jodi Spickler (Home Staging by Jodi)

Hi Jodi, I think you are getting us confused with the ASP convention that was held at the same time. This was the Bay Area Stager Expo sponsored by StagerLIST.com and Welcome Home Furniture in Dublin. We had over 100 stagers from all over the Bay Area attend in all forms of designations and some without any at all which we call Naked Stagers.  It was a full day of educational seminars and vendor booths for local contractors who help the local stagers be full service Staging Proessionals.

All the best, Kym

07/22/2008 01:07 AM by Kym Hough, Staging Consultant , Staged to Sell, SF Bay Area, CSP (Staged to Sell & StagersLIST.com)

WHEW!  I for one am energized.  Just talked with Christine and she's in for several of the EXPOS as well.  We are so excited and really look forward to meeting all of our AR friends across the country.  This is going to be a blast.  I think the best part is Christine talking TRENDS.  Her marketing background of 25 years focused on staging has just made a world of difference in her CSP training and differientiating it as the ADVANCED staging business training.  We are so lucky that she agreed to come to the EXPOS and give us the advantage of her work and contacts.  She is just all over the globe with contacts that network with her about trends in this industry.  We get the benefit of her industry statistics which are relevant to ALL stagers (regardless of training).  There is a REASON she was picked as 2007 RESA Staging Innovator of the Year.

OH, then the next best part (or equally best part) is Kym giving marketing information from her long and checkered   illustrious marketing career.  Between the two of them, my oh my.  Kym wouldn't brag but is one of the most successful stagers in the country.  She works 50 weeks a year, makes well over 6 figures staging and has a handle on the stages of building a successful business and makes it work for her business.  Alot of people have knowledge but fail in implementation.  She knows how to run the "business" of staging as well as being a remarkably talented stager, I know, I use her on my listed properties.

Well, guess I should have written my own blog post, that's all, just suffice it to say I am honored and priveleged to be in the company of these talented, honorable and gifted ladies.  And, the best part is "what you see is what you get".  AND we'll see you on the road!!!

07/24/2008 02:17 PM by Terrylynn Fisher,StagersLIST.com Realtor Diablo Realty

Thanks, Kym!  I attended the Expo and found it very informational and useful.  I took away a lot of ideas, and it also served to strengthen what I already believe about stagers as marketers.  If my childcare hadn't fallen through, I would've stayed the whole time :-)
