Pasco County officials approved a portion of the Shops at Wiregrass, allowing three new buildings and 50,000 square feet.  The remaining portion of the proposed 800,000 square feet of "open air" mall is still pending approval from the county.  Opening of these new retail shops is contingent upon the developer extending S.R. 56 eastward to the eastern portion of The Shops at Wiregrass.  The next scheduled hearing on the Wiregrass development is scheduled for April 10th.  Apparently, the issue of the developer's plan for roads within the planned community remains under scrutiny out of fear of creating a major bottleneck of traffic.
