I'd like to thank my cat for today's post

TurkishI was sitting at my desk (currently located in our dining room due to constraints brought on by the mortgage crisis), banging my head against the wall (not literally) for inspiration on today's Active Rain post, when in walked Turkish, my cat.

Turkish is a neighborhood-renowned troublemaker who has a knack for getting in the way. Today was no exception, and in the midst of my bemuddled musings, Turk thought it was the perfect time to roll onto his back and get into fight mode. Being a cat, he didn't know that he had rolled right onto my keyboard. Or did he?

Turk managed to type in a complicated combination of keystrokes that, due to low visibility through his ginger fur, I wasn't quite able to see. I looked up to see that my screen had gotten turned on its side. Not fallen over, but the information on the monitor had rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. See picture for photographic evidence.

Half and hour, one photo, and one amused cat later, I got the screen righted and sat down in time to tell you all about it.

So all that to say, I suppose I owe some thanks to Turkish for deciding what I would write on today. Perhaps it's not a market-shaking topic, but hey, this is the stuff that makes up the bulk of our lives.

For any other cat lovers out there, this link has incredibly cute and accurate cartoon portrayal of feline behavior. Enjoy!

Just goes to show how it easy it is for the market to get turned on its side.  One wrong keystroke and panic ensuses.  I'm sure there are a number of headlines that you could come up with that we tie into the mortgage mess :-)

Carey, cute story!  my cat, Romeon, often likes to walk across the keyboard and type emails. Love the cartoon - especially when the phone is ringing.

I used to have a cat that would answer a phone!  I used to arrive at 8AM for my job, that I had to be there at 8:45.  Well, one day, I was running late, but still expected to arrive by my required time, and when I walked in, the manager asked me how I got there so quick (she knew there was nobody at my home at the time)  I asked her what she was talking about.  She stated she called me (before cell phones BTW) and I answered, but didn't say anything.  Two minutes later from a twenty minute drive, I walked in the door.  I stated, no, that was my cat you were talking to.  She busted up laughing, but didn't believe me.  When I got home, I replaced the phone on the hook.  It WAS my cat that answered, and she got worse, so I had to get a different phone so she would stop answering it (leaving it off the hook!  so rude of her  Smiley)

Oh my, Ronald, my cat, Bud, would answer the phone too.  My grandpa called him AT&T (that's our phone company).

I love cats, I'm the "crazy cat lady", but my cat is driving me nuts lately.  Yowling at everything.  I don't know how to shut him up!  He's neutered!  Be quiet, you don't need a girlfriend!

I love your creative take on this, Cindy! You're right that it takes very little to get the market turned on its side, especially these days. Maybe that's why there are no cats allowed in the trading pits on Wall Street...

Lisa - if only you could train Romeon to show homes for you too, not just type emails. ;) Wouldn't that be grand?

Ronald - lol! Too funny! And I'm impressed that my cats can open doors, that's nothing. I'm also amazed that Chris's cat Bud could do the same thing. Btw, Chris, our other cat, Oz, is getting extremely talkative lately. Not yowling, just little meows. He's a very polite conversationalist, he'll wait until we're done speaking to make his point, then will listen patiently as we respond.

P.S. I'm glad there are other cat-crazies out there!

I have to laugh.  I just love the mischief these furry guys bring to our lives.  Wouldn't know what to do without mine.

Absolutely, they are great to have around.   I miss her, and in time, I'll get another cat, as I've had a cat since her, and I had to put him to sleep about two years ago - that was the hardest thing I think I did in my life!
