The pitter patter of heavy hoofs is what you heard, but those hoofs were on beautiful legs, and what a glorious way to spend an early evening. Last week the Budweiser Clydesdales came to our town.
I am sure many of you have had the wonderful experience of seeing these gorgeous animals.
The whole town turned out.....I don't think that this many people would show up if the Presidential candidates were in town.

I love the commercials that show the Clydesdales trotting through the snow at holiday time.
Evidently there are five traveling Clydesdale teams and each year they travel more than 100,000 miles just for our enjoyment.
These great, gentle giants are a living symbol of Anheuser-Busch.......they have been sold and I sure hope that these fine horses remain. What a shame it would be to let this tradition end.
LOOK AT THIS FACE

If this isn't a beauty I don't know what is.

And the wonderful, ever present Dalmatian. He sat so patiently.
During the trip down Main Street (everyone has a Main St., right?) There was the "PUB CRAWL". The team delivered cases of beer to each bar and restaurant while the throng of thirsty spectators followed along. I've never seen such a crowd. What fun though, everyone was in a great mood (would be after all that beer), and I enjoyed walking along schmoozing.....like a good Realtor would, it was a lot of fun to talk to friends, past customers, neighbors. Cameras and cell phones were busy.
Strutting Along!
The handler walked along side, and every now and then they would stop and he would dry their mouths and noses; must keep them pretty, it takes five hours to prepare the horses for an appearance. (Sounds like me getting ready every morning).
A storm came up and those babies were whisked away before the rain started, they are so well cared. They stayed at our county fair grounds for the weekend while they traveled to a couple of other nearby towns in their luxury custom-built vans, with thick rubber flooring, air suspension and vent fans to ease long hours on the road. They have three vans in all. The first two carry the Clydesdales, and the third van transports the red brewery wagon, feed, portable stalls, harnesses and the other gear.
Anyway it was a delight and I'm glad I put up with the traffic. SO IF THEY COME TO YOUR TOWN, DON'T MISS IT, IT TRULY WAS A TREAT.
They were featured in Saturday's Alpenfest Parade in Gaylord and I believe they're scheduled sometime this week in Cheboygan. Majestic horses and we should all live such a pampered life. Hopefully the tradition will continue with Belgian ownership.
