Real Estate at the Nail Salon

"Susan, how are you holding up?" asked one of my past clients when she ran into me at the nail salon.  "I'm great.  What are you talking about?"  I queried back.  She went on to talk about the gloomy real estate market and said, "Surely you're not selling houses right now."  I told her I most certainly was selling houses, in fact, I just closed one last week and have 3 more coming up to closing in August.  She was shocked. 

Once again the news media has done a number on the public.  All the talk of depressed markets and mortgage woes have made a good majority of people think this applies to the entire nation.  It doesn't.  Our market may not be as strong but it still has opportunities - as long as you're willing to work for them.  This is a time that some of my fellow realtors seem to be stepping back.  I'm not.  In fact, I'm stepping forward.  I'm honing my marketing pieces and employing new strategies to entice clients.   I'm strenghtening myself in areas that would be most beneficial to buyers & sellers in today's internet market. 

It felt good to be able to say I was selling houses that day in the nail salon.  It felt even better when I got to the office and heard a voice mail from a potential client.  The message started, "I couldn't help but overhear your conversation at the nail salon today...."
