My first actual fishing trip was with grandpa, dad and my grandma came too, but she read instead of fished. We started at 9:30 and ended about 12:55, but we didn't catch anything.

Grandpa was the only one to lose his bait, but I was the only one that got 3 nibbles. We saw a couple of osprey though. Here is a picture of them, taken by my grandpa.

On our way back we saw this old water wheel and on the way there and back we saw this eagles nest, we knew it's an eagle's nest because dad and grandpa saw an eagle there on their last fishing trip. (The eagles nest and water wheel are pictured below)

Its 1:45 now and we're looking at old barns on our way home. Grandpa is taking pictures of them, below are just some of the pictures that Grandpa took.

Its 2:45 now and we just past a McDonalds and grandma asked if I wanted some ice cream and of course I said "YES"

Its 3:20 now and we are in Scotts Mill and we saw a deer in the road in front of us. (Didn't get a picture of him) I had a lot of fun fishing even though we didn't catch anything. I loved my first actual fishing trip.

Notice no fish on our chains :(

I Love fishing, inland and offshore, and the best part is the peace and time spent with friends and family.  Wonderful photos!!!  So beautiful there!

Sounds like a great memory.  Catching is secondary to the bonding that happens.

Todd, the pictures are priceless. Enjoy the time with your family. As far as fishing a bad day fishing beats a great day at work.

What a beautiful area you live in.  I remember one of my first fishing trips, I went to Kentucky with my then husband to visit his family for the first time and they all love to fish.  He told me that I would have to put my own worms on the hook, that I would be laughed out of Kentucky if I was too squeamish to handle a worm.  I dreaded it, but I had to make a good impression so I gritted my teeth and put that awful worm on the hook.  As I finished I noticed my new sister-in-law batting her pretty southern eyes at her husband as she told him to please bait her hook for her, which he happily did.  Never trust a husband that just wants to get out of the dirty work :)

Cute, Meesha. I think that you caught a lot of memories with you family. Who need fish when you have a wonderful family. All my best, Jim

You are a great ambassador of our beautiful state. Keep the pictures coming.

As a grandparent, I can tell you there is nothing better than spending time with the grandkids doing something fun. Afterall, that is what grandparents are for, fun.

Meesha,

Very nice post! You don't have to catch any fish to have a good fishing trip...I know you had a good time and will want to go again...you said your grandpa lost his bait and you had some nibbles...what was your Dad doing??? :) Thanks,   Fran

P.S. To TC: I just got my perpetual senior fishing license...I'm ready to go!!!

Gene - Thank you, fishing is fun and I hope to do it again soon.

William - I think that is why daddy calls it fishing and not catching.

Frank
- I didn't have to do school that day and that made it pretty awesome for me.

Beth - I batted my eyes and daddy put the worm on my hook, but I did take it off at the end of the day.

Jim - Yes, I do have a wonderful family, even if my dad is dork.

Fred - And to spoil us, don't forget that!

Fran - Who knows, sitting there maybe sleeping. Funny story, my mom read your comments out loud and my dad asked if that was Fran, as he recognized you and what you would say. My mom laughed and yes I do want to go again! Especially since grandpa and dad caught their limit last time, I think they caught all the fish.

Midori - I did and thank you.

It has been a long time since I've been fishing. Those hooks can be dangerous!

"A bad day of fishing is better than a great day in the office!"  I grew up on Lake Erie (Ohio) and enjoyed many great times with my father on the lake.  We didn't always bring back a catch... but we did have a lot of quality time.  As I grew older.. and my father was in the later years of his life... we continued to have good times on Lake Erie.. and yes, we did catch some fish.  The Perch off Conneaut, Ohio is great.. and they're "Jumbo" perch!  I will always remember the times I had with my father on Lake Erie... they gave us time to bond.  I learned more about his life as a kid, his army days, and life in general while on the boat than I did growing up.

Good fishing to all!

Meesha- very nice guest post.  The water wheel you took a picture of, belongs to the family of a good friend of my daughters and she was house sitting there about the time you took the photo.  There is a huge trout pond with 40 or so trout  that weigh 12 - 16 pounds each!
