Things have certainly changed in the last few years. My hair MAY or MAY not have a touch a grey, my dog is slightly obese, my heels aren't quite as high, and my nights are quite as late:)....

But the strangest would have to be All the TEXT messages!! My clients, my doctor, my insurance agent, matter of fact, the only text message that would surprise me would be from my dog. Even my "I will never buy a cell phone" father is now on the wagon.

I must admit sometimes it is a nice way of avoiding human contact....but isn't is a bit too much sometimes.

Are we truly meant to know every thought, every action, that pops into the lives of everyone in our cell phone!?!?!

Ok...does this mean I am old????

And on the professional note??? Is a text message written or verbal communication??

Just curious......

CRS is now offering a class on texting. It is certainly crazy!  As for verbal or written communication, who knows!

It`s wild...

Im not liking the texts. Not so much for me but my children. I cant see what is being sent ot received. That bothers me. I have blocked that use.

Dana- Are you serious.....wow! I didn't know that!

Scott- It does make something easier I agree...I love to use it with my friends..I just wonder how it will be viewed in the real estate industry...

Laura- I can't imagine!!!!!!

interesting Cherimie

I don't mind the texting. Usually it's just a quick kinda touching base note. At ERA we have text messaging on our sign riders too now. I think that is an excellent marketing tool. We're in a super fast paced world now and the consumer wants info instantly and the consumer is getting used to that. We got to keep up and ahead of them I think.

As far as verbal or written communication. It's written communication i my book, no pun intended.

Have a great DAY !!

John- Great idea about text messaging on riders..........may I steal:)

I am continually getting text from buyers and sellers. The last one I received flattered me. The buyer who had just closed understood that I was in a place where I could respond in text much sooner than getting alone to return a call.  Texting is a tremendous time saver for people that can't wait to get their answer.

For those of us who are old and don't see that well it is not as much fun as it looks like but I agree is efficient and a sign of the times...Generation Y and some Generation X tend to communicate that way with their friends as opposed to calls......

You are so right! Also, the need--sometimes unnecessary--for instantaneous communication has also affected our perception of responsive customer service.  Back in the day--if we wanted to impress a client with how responsive we were--we would say the documents would arrive by FedEx, so it would take a day or two--then, with the arrival of the fax---we would offer to fax it--which could get it to them quicker---then it was email--which could get it to them almost immediately.  But even then--in the dark ages--there was that small buffer of time--because you let them know that it may take a little while for you to get to the FedEx drop off, or get to your fax machine, or get to your computer to send an email.  Now there is an expectation that you will have every document, photo, invoice, web link--right on your Blackberry---which will be of course right in your hand, and that you can therefore provide the absolutely instantaneously necessary document, web link, photo etc, before the request leaves their mouth--or you are not being responsive.  We have so little time to consider the quality of the information we send--or review the information we receive when we must provide and reply to everything immediately.  Also, every day--those keys on my Blackberry keyboard seem tinier and tinier--so even though I can reply instantly to a text message, it takes me ten minutes to revise it because it looks like some foreign language because I have pressed the wrong key :)

Chris- I certainly can't argue the efficency!!! You are right it can be quite a time saver

Julie- I don't see any old people:)

Noreen- thanks for the response...it is true about people expecting immediate response and I would feel more comfortable if I had more time to consider the information I am sending.

I like texting.  It is super efficient.  I don't see it relacing talking by any stretch... but it is great for sending info to the "chatty" client that they need without getting caught up in a long call.

Text messaging is definitely quicker than voice mail and email, but I also think it means a quicker response. Does it mean we have to be at there beck and call 24/7? Welcome to the world of technology. I would think text messaging would fall under written communication.

Hi Cherimie,

Texting used to annoy me but not anymore. It is becoming increasingly popular.  There are only a handful of my clients that text me.  I don't make it a habit.
