Lawn Care 101 Series  - How to Mow Like a Pro!
Cutting your lawn seems simple, but as any yard enthusiast knows, it’s much more complex than it seems. How else do you explain why side-by-side neighbors have such differing results? Here are the basics of mowing that will keep your yard looking fresh:
1)
Set the blade height to the middle setting—Cutting the grass too low can
cause scorching from the sun. Not cutting it enough will make it more difficult the next time you mow.
2)
Cut in rows—Cutting in straight lines is the safest way to ensure you cut every blade without missing a spot.
3)
Check the bag often—A bag that is too full allows the cut grass to overflow as clumps onto your yard. These clumps will cause the freshly cut grass underneath
to die.
4)
Cut often—Cutting your grass once every week (especially during flourishing summer months) is the best way to encourage it to grow lush and full.

Next month’s Lawn Care 101 tip: Keeping your grass green.

5 Comments on Your July tip for the month

Some of the bank owned properties are killing neighborhoods in our market because of something as simple as cutting the grass, or watering it.

Isn't it amazing? I would get the city involved and file a complaint or something. These REOs are killing the rest of the neighborhoods. Either that or we all may have to pitch in and mow ourselves.

Can anyone help me join this group? New to active rain and not quite certain how to negotiate my way around this site.

I feel this would be a great group for me to be affiliated with and I would really appreciate any help I am offered. Also, if anyone needs a competitive estimate for there annual audit required by HUD we would love to provide that.

Thank You

Luke:

I think that many lawns are not getting the attention due to the cost of watering, gas, and other facets. So, many family, are cutting back. I know that its not only the REO's or short sale homes that are showing the ramifications of this economy.

Really? The cost of water? As a homeowner its our responsibilty to not only ourselves but to our neighbors to mow the lawn. Period. And I would think most homeowners take pride in their home and outdoor upkeep is just as important. Don't realtors always preach curb appeal?
