This year Dan and I will be celebrating our 30th anniversary on August 11. Every big anniversary we plan a trip. Usually, Dan takes care of planning these little excursions, but this weekend he informed me this time it is my turn.

Gee, honey, thanks, you could have told me this 6 months ago, when I would have had more time. Guys, I'm looking for some ideas here. I have only like 2 weeks to plan this trip. HELP!

Dan planned a cruise for the whole family for our 25th, so I'm under a lot of pressure here, and of course we have let our passports expire, so the South of France is out. Damn!

Through, I'm hoping for something a little better than last year, which was a "bean supper" at the local firehouse up in Maine. Thank you, Cousin George. I owe you one. Not that I don't love going to Maine, but after last weekend's adventure with the killer mouse and the 2x4, I think I'll pass.

So, everyone, I really need your help, let me here those creative vacations.......

As you know Maine offers everything..... We could leave the cabin to do Breakfast in Paris, swing thru Mexico for Lunch and continue our journey to China where we may get lucky and find a Rice & Bean Suppa!  No Passport Required!

Gee Jason - well I must say that was "creative", not really what I expected when I was asking for ideas. I should have known better.

Dano - all I can say is ugh!

Hi Sandra,

Congratulations on your 30th! Since you let your passport expire that really doesn't give you many options to out do him....Niagara Falls is beautiful this time of year! :)

Mana - Would love to go to Cancun, but alas I believe you must have a passport.

George - Wow, 34 years!  And what can I say, but you romantic dog you, your lucky wife a bean supper.

Suzanne - Yeah, I'm running out of time and without passports our options are narrowed somewhat. Niagara Falls may be in the running.

There are all kinds of last minute trips locally.... Could do the Ritz in Boston and blow some big bucks, Sailing trip up the coast of Maine or to Nova Scotia, kick back on the beach in front of some mansion in Newport or you could ride the Lady of the Mist, again.  Isn't Niagara Falls where I got hit on the head by that pigeon?  Shitty memories of that trip!  LOL

Congrats! 30 years is a long, long, long time. Anyhoo, how about Key West? Very tropical, chintzy and so much fun. Also, lots of 6 toed cats at the Hemingway house so I would think the mouse quotient would be rather low. No passport required. Or what about the Big Easy? Dano could win you some beads!!!!

Dan - Yes I know. Just thinking about Boston in the summer makes me sweat. I will have to look into Newport, and I do remember that bird incident up in Niagara Falls. lol

Bill - My thoughts exactly. I keep thinking beach! That is where we went on our 25th. We had a wonderful time.

Beth...Can't believe it myself. Dan asked why I put 30 years in the post, makes us sound sooo old. I can't help it if I got married at 5. ; -) Great ideas! Had not thought of the Key West, I have never been there, and it sounds really enticing with the low mouse population and all. The Big Easy is also appealing for they have a Ritz there and you can never go wrong at the Ritz.

By the way, I need to give you a call, we are heading to Philly in September. Hoping to get together.

Beth... Hope you're not implying I have monstrous man-boobs!  My reduced running schedule since the marathon has added a few pounds but I'm working on dropping a cup size before the next race...

Dan - only you would bring "man-boobs" and "cup sizes" into a public post. Gee, now I know what I can get you for an anniversary gift....

Just working my magic!  Figured it would give you Google Juice....  BTW... I also need to get an anniversary gift?  Thought my company on the trip would be sufficient.

Sandra (and Dan)--Congrats on your 30th! Okay I have no ideas...but I had to tell you that August 11th is the 28th Anniversary of our first date. We celebrate it because we dated for 11 1/2 years before we got married. (Yes we started dating at 5 too...not really but I like the way you think!)

So if I had to come up with something...I would go to NYC for the weekend, Broadway play and a carriage ride around Central Park. Of course my husband would hate it...his dream date would be going to a NASCAR race! We would agree on an ocean beach anywhere along the east coast.

Good luck...And congrats again!

Dan ....silence....

Teri - I just can't believe it! August 11 is your first date anniversary. Too funny. The more I learn about you the more we have in common, it's like were twins...  : -)

NYC for the weekend is always great, and it is so close we are able to just catch a train. Laughing about your husband's dream date. Think Dan's would be running a marathon, which would be fine with me as long as it was on a beach.

O.k. - I have to know your secret to marriage?  I've only been married for 11 years.  What keeps yours going.

Anway ...Why don't you rent a convertible and ride the California coast, stopping at every winery you come across.

Michelle - Only 11 years...hey your almost half way there!  Can't say there is any great secret to our marriage, all I know is that Dan and I seem to laugh a lot and enjoy being together. I still think he's cute, even when he wears his "spandex".

The convertible is a great idea, but would we need to hire a driver after we hit a few of those wineries?

Sandra--My husband has a no spandex rule though...so maybe not too parallel after all! :) You two both seem to have a lot of fun...That is one thing we have in common. It says a lot when you can still laugh with someone after 28...or 30+ years. Congrats again!

Teri... Just to clarify I don't wear much Spandex!   When running it's very comfortable but as you know I'm very modest and would feel overly exposed wearing skin tight running gear.  Spandex is kind of along running joke going back to a bathing suit I had 20 years ago.  As my waist expanded to suit looked smaller!

Teri - What no spandex?  Dan and your hubby will have to talk....lol

Dan - You modest...I didn't even think you knew the meaning of that word. As far as that bathing suit is concerned - what do you mean the suit looked smaller?  If it got any smaller you would have been wearing a thong.

Sandra--Not since the 1980's! I think there were some bike shorts way back then....never a bathing suit though!  :)
