News Flash REALTOR Reenters from the Twilight Zone!

I am so glad to be sitting here writing my Blog.  Last week I was subject to and forced to attend my husband's family reunion.  My wonderful husband told me if I wanted to stay married that I had to attend as it had been 8 years since I last went.  I had the most compelling excuses not to attend.  One was I had a very sick Kitty Cat, who died 5 years ago........OK that was would not work anymore.

The second excuse was the summer is my highest volume for real-estate transactions.   NOW HERE IS THE PROBLEM WITH THIS EXCUSE, WE ARE IN A DOWN MARKET.  HUSBAND COCO MOE KNOWS THIS. So he insists that I go this year.  He even tells my granddaughter about this (she is 7 years old) who lives in Georgia, so she comes to Virginia to go with us.  Yes, it get even better.  We are going to West Viginia to a state park call Pipe Steam.  The week we are gone is my birthday week.

Now I know that all of you would love to spend your birthday with about 35 people you hardly know and never see, and the average age is 85 years old, Right?  Ok I am a good sport, I only had 3 Bloody Marys the whole time I was away.  I will add to this that I could have used a lot more by the end of this excursion.

Now 3 days before I leave my clients who have their home under contract with a contingency on the buyer's sale of their home, gets word that the buyers have sold their hole and is taking off the contingency.   So they write on a home that they have had their eye on.  Also the day I leave I get a call that one of my listings is getting an offer.  Oh no it gets even better, my brothers house the same 3 days before gets 3 offers, and it has been on the market for 11 months (we had just dropped the price 5 days before).  So I had to get his home under contract before I left.  Now all of this is going on and while I am traveling my cell phone is ringing constantly, my transaction coordinator (who is license and fresh out of college) is calling me and going into a tail spin as I coach her on what to do.  My granddaughter is demanding attention as well as Coco Moe Joe.  Not to mention my partner who handles the commercial part of my business is getting several offers on a commercial listing we have.

While all of the above is going on have you ever tried to get a large number of people to agree to do anything or meet to go out to eat at least once a day?  Well, I did survive the week and I am now hoem and so happy to be back.  ONE LAST POINT OR RANT, IF I HAD STAYED HOME NONE OF THE ABOVE WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!  So I am thinking maybe I should go and visit friends, family and foe when there is a slump in my personal market.  I may be on to something here.

You're right, Elaine.  If you had stuck around nothing would have happened.  The Universe has a weird sense of humor.  It piles everything on you when you're about to leave to "enjoy" yourself.  I hope they had good food at the reunion.
