Akron City Council, this week, approved a resolution to adopt a program initiated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. It is called the Dollar Homes program and means that foreclosed government homes can be bought by an approved government entity for $1.00. The homes, depending on condition, will be razed or rehabilitated for resale. These re-habbed or new homes will be made available at reduced market value to low or moderate income families.
This will greatly help the housing market by removing blighted, vacant homes that are eyesores and reducing home values in Akron's neighborhoods. It will also create opportunities for many people to become home owners and realize a big part of the American Dream.
Eight homes are currently being made available to the city for this program. I will publish these addresses and status as soon as they are made available.
Perhaps your city should be taking part in this wonderful program to benefit the housing market and so many Americans.
