This is by far one of the best solutions to a flat screen TV to come down the pike ever!

art for tv's

Click here to watch the screen in action.

To make one of your own (not automatic) create a shadow box with a print or fabric on the front...and for home stagers; be sure there is a safe place to store the faux print when the TV is in use. Sweet!

If you have created more fabulous solutions for the Ugly Eye syndrome, please share with us. Just the opposite can be acheived for vacant home staging by framing a photo of a flat screen TV to show placement instead of buying the faux version. A framed print is much classier.

I like it.  I guess a poor man's version would be to display a work of art on the TV.

Hi Sheron,

Excellent Idea!

Waaaay before flat screens, back in the day, my mom had a pet peeve about T.V. placement. One day, she decided to cut a hole in the livingroom wall, and stick our t.v. in it. Then, she hung a picture over it whaen it was not in use. That was in California 1979.

The only thing was, TV's were HUGE, and the wall she chose was the wall that has my room on the other side. I had an enormous television that ate up 3/4 of my closet. I was not happy!

But it worked, and I got used to it, and that painting of a Louisiana Bayou was put up and removed several times a day! She was a creative Cajun!

After that, she went on a t.v. hiding crusade with all her clients, Now that t.v.'s are primarily flat, her crusade  has shifted.... she finds a way to recess countertop microwaves inside kitchen cabinetry.

I will have to dig up pictures to show you.

~Michelle

Randy - Aloha! So in winter; a fireplace? And in summer an aquarium? Oh yeah, seen those. My computer has the aquarium and no one would ever guess it was a PC (ha ha)

Michelle - do we know each other? It all sounds so familiar and I may know your mother.

Kat - knew you would like this one. Always a good referral to recomment to the happy new home owners too.

OMG...can yo imagine a big whole in the wall. I have friend who always puts a scarf over her T.V., some people really do not like the looks of T.V.'s.

Anyway, they can really do cleaver things these days, no need to cut wholes in walls anymore. I like your shadowbox idea!!!

Hi Terry - just saw the big hole trick on HGTV as a solution. Not my idea of a solution but must not be original.

Marci - is that you? Goodness it has been a long hot summer already. Give me a buzz when you can. Things have sure changed around here...you keeping up???

Cheryl - I think MDF moldings would keep the shadow box lightweight. I don't own a flat screen TV yet, can you believe it?

Kristina - thanks for stopping by!!!

I sooo want that, but no point since our TV seems to always be on these days. Like the idea of faux pictures for staging.  Thanks for the fun post!

Great idea, thanks.  I don't watch much tv and it sure would be great to hide it!

We have a TV above the fireplace which I do not care for (Shhhh...I think it's a Man thing, eek!)  I will look into this as soon as their site is back up!! Thank you for sharing!  No offense to those whom have TV's above the fireplace like me, HA HA! I just pretend I like it...for now :)

I use fake plasma tv's, they look great and do the trick.

You're very creative, I don't have the skill to put something together so beautifully.

Ronelle - What's the story behind the name of your company? Very cute.

Diane - hey there, you are all over cyberspace! Nice to see you. Entertainment centers have become a thing of the past...that is where we used to hide them.

JoLynn - you are very tactful ;-)

Joyce - I can't believe you don't have the skill to design the covers then have someone make them though...go for it. Can you see a coordinating fabric or paper?

Hi Sheron-

We have an upscale restaurant here that has this rotating art screen. Pretty cool.

That is a great idea for an inexpensive alternative, Sheron. We have a big ugly uh I mean beautiful flat screen over the fireplace and I can't stand it!  But I lost the battle. I looked into TV Art on-line but some are more expensive than the flat screen itself. Another simple solution I've found are TV Screen Saver DVDs in a multitude of themes. Doesn't actually hide the TV but it's great when you are entertaining or listening to music instead of staring up at the big black thing you get to see a slide show of flowers or art work or something else pretty. Nice for an open house or showing.

Nifty, that's what it is...nifty! Thanks Myrl for putting that familiar term to good use!

Holly - I hope this is your first name...I don't think I would like the movement...too distracting. At home I have the cute fish in the aquarium on my desktop.

Kathy - that is very kewl! Can you select the prints?

Kathlene - LOL

Tanya - if you can use that style, keep an eye out for old frames in anitque shops and put them to good use.

Thanks for the link, Sheron, as I see a large flat screen coming to a fireplace near me! This may help save the marriage. LOL.

Hello stranger~My first thought is 'how much'?.  I finally got rid of the eye sore Big Tv in the master br replace with flat screen plasma, love it.  Like everything I do it is as budget allows.  Remember the mirrors from the 70's they are still there but block partially by a Shoji screen, either I am going to try and take the mirrors off the closet doors (the wall of mirrors) and paint or wallpaper with some textured bamboo looking wallpaper from SW or put up an entire row of real mahogany or red stained bamboo curtains because I can hang them from the indirect lighting above.   I always have about 5 projects going on but I have been asked by a realtor in Dallas for some before and after photos he specializes in modern homes and mcms.

See ya,
