I remember 2 years ago using Craigslist to market your real estate for sale. In St. Louis the link is http://stlouis.craigslist.org/rfs/ by the end of each day, the list would almost get to 100, which is how many posts make up each page. now, this year, 100 posts are on the real estate for sale link by 10am, and usually has almost 400 posts by days end.

What's that mean? Is Craigslist the ultimate arena to post real estate for sale? or are sellers pulling out all the stops and posting their property any and everywhere? I think that its a combination. In my opinion, the fact that there are now hundreds of posts per day for real estate for sale in St. Louis is an obvious indication of the market.

Craigslist is a popular place, the filters to search through all the postings is  a bit weak but craigslist was never meant to be the 2nd MLS. its a basic message board.

Many agents use Craigslist to post their property. Probably closed to 90% of people interested in buying real estate are using the internet to do their research or their search for homes, its become a necessary evil to post to craigslist to try and reach that audience.

Jason,

I post all of my listings to Craiglist, but have been unsuccessful in getting ANY feedback from there.  Just not many people in my area searching there so far.

I agree.  I use Craigs List on all of my postings.  I actually heard about the use of it for RE listening to a podcast called Marketing Mondays!  Do you know of any others that are being widely used?

I post all of my listings on craigslist.  I have gotten calls from craigslist and I have had people visit my website from craigslist.  I can't track ANY of my sales to craigslist- but it gets my name out there!

I have not sold anything off of Craigslist, though I know people that have.

I have posted a handful of houses and received a lot of email inquiries but none of those inquiries ever lead to an actual client

Jason,

I just consider it another way to get my customers house in another place on the web.  The more exposure the better.

Hi everyone:

I have been using a great tool to automate my postings on Craigslit. All I have to do is create a dozen ads with several different headers and tell rainmaker how often I want those ads posted. It does the rest. Whether you are at your computer or not your ads get posted.

Here is a link:Rainmaker
