Every day, whether you read the news online, in print, or tune into the TV or radio, you hear it! The gloom and the doom about the economy . . . the rising costs of gas at the pump . . . airfares increasing.

Well, I’ve had it. It’s time to find the bright light at the end of the tunnel . . . the optimism among all the bad news. And, here on Kauai, there are many positives to look forward to.

If you’re looking to buy a piece of paradise, consider this:

#1. It’s a buyer’s market on Kauai. Interest rates are still relatively low and inventory on The Garden Island is high. This means more options to choose from when you’re buying real estate on Kauai - whether you want a single-family home, condominium or vacant land.

#2. Prices are lower because properties are sitting on the market longer than before – giving buyers more negotiating power.

#3. According to the National Association of REALTORS existing-home sales historic series, "over the past 30 years, home values have risen more than 6 percent annually." And, they also report, "On average, the value of a home nearly doubles every ten years." Check out: www.housingmarketfacts.com

#4. Rainbows, waterfalls incredible sunsets. Just a small sun shower results in magnificent splashes of color across Kauai’s sky. More than 1,000 waterfalls cascade down the mountains around the island. Take your seat along the beach and watch the sun’s rays beam through the clouds and glisten on the ocean’s surface.

#5. It’s a fabulous place to live. Kauai is the northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain. Surrounded by the magnificent blue Pacific Ocean, it is 550 square miles with 50 miles of white sand beaches. The average temperature in winter is 76 to 80 degrees F and 84-87 degrees F in summer. Wouldn't you like this to be your home?

So, while you may still hear dim news when you turn on the TV, keep in mind there are bright spots – like living the Kauai lifestyle. Then, when paradise is calling you, call me!

Debra - Would that more real estate professionals would focus on the positive and find some light of their own instead of all the gloom.  Thanks for this!

Aloha Renae,

Mahalo (thanks) for your comment. I know it can be tough to find the bright spots during these turbulent times. However, the more negativity that gets projected, the more there seems to be. So, I'm doing my best to focus on the good stuff. For those looking to buy, if they have down payment money, good credit and aren't looking for the "quick flip," it's a good time to purchase.

Thanks again.
