Inside Starr Library Rhinebeck NY

I know that in the age of internet, we conduct most of our information search online, however keep the library in mind as a valuable resource.  I have found that there are times I can't find something online but will find an old book in the library that provides the needed information.

Yes the library is a resource not to be overlooked, some of the other services include books on tape, you can take out movies and CD's.  The neat thing to remember is that if your local library does not have a particular item they can get it from another library and you can pick up the item at your local library.

Jennifer, even with the internet and computers and ebooks and books on CD's, I still love libraries and book stores.  Call me retro!

What a great blog.  There is just something about the smell of all those books.  Brings back memories to when I was a child in school.....yes folks there was more than one room!

Pat - I feel the same way, there was a time when I read several books per week sometimes my parents reminded me about that little thing called sleep.

Jeff - I loved books so much that I almost became a librarian.  I get pleasure out of digging through really old books.

I am a big library fan too!!  Does Carolyn Tann-Starr know about this one.  I figure she should check it out with that name on it.  Have a great one.

You know when I was younger I used to think the library was the worst place in the world.  But as an adult I LOVE THE LIBRARY!!  I can go in there and stay forever.  LOL  This is a good highlight on your library.  I don't think many people appreciate all the local library has to offer.

Jennifer the days of a library being just a place to go and take out books are long gone.  Today libraries provide a multitude of educational activities and resources for their communities.

Jennifer - I am so surprised libraries have not become a thing of the past with all the info available online. Since my kids are grown now, I almost forgot about the library!

Jennifer, you always come up with the most interesting historical posts.  We (wife and I) visited the library in Alexandria, Egypt, earlier this year.  I'll post some pics of that soon.

Jennifer, I have to agree with Carol up there and seeing library expansion in this time and age seems very odd, yet quite encouraging. As a former educator (and reading specialist) I am always encouraged and inspired by communities that value libraries.

That looks like a great library.  One of my favorite places to be when the weather is bad is at the library -- Nice photos -- and I am sure that people will enjoy the new and improved space.

Paddy - Thanks, I just read your blog on your library and loved it.

Kimberly - When I was younger I was a bookworm, it was the library or spending my last dollar in a bookstore.

Kim with the Internet many have forgotten about this great resource.

Gary - It is great that this community has had such a resource for so long.

George - Today's libraries are keeping up with the times.  My son-in-law love to get the movies and dvds

Carol -If you feel like watching an old black and white movie you might just find it at your local library.
