Tesla - Now in production, the ultimate electric car is available for order.

With the urgent focus on reducing our dependance on foreign oil, this technology is more relevant than ever before.

100% Electric / 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph / 220 miles per charge / and as little as 3.5 hours per complete charge.

The vehicle is equipped with all the features of regular production luxury cars, including air conditioning and heater, heated sport seats with lumbar support, cruise control, and touch screen vehicle information display.

The car also has sophisticated safety features like anti-lock braking systems (ABS), traction control, tire pressure monitoring system, and a rigid occupant safety cell.

According to the Tesla website, Electric Cars don't have to be as complex mechanically as regular gas powered cars. "Sophisticated electronics and software take the place of the pounds and pounds of machinery required to introduce a spark and ignite the fuel that powers an internal combustion engine".

While a conventional car has over a hundred moving parts, the motor of the Tesla has only one: the rotor. "So there's less weight to drive around and fewer parts that could break or wear down over time".

This beautiful roadster is available for order by any US Resident.

So why isn't everyone lining up to order one of these beauties?

It must be the Base Price of $109,000.

This is huge....the funny thing is that this will be a dinosaur in about 5 years as the technology gets poured into this new venue.  How long can you drive it b/4 you need a new charge?

Nikolai Tesla would be proud of such a well designed vehicle.  Most people are not familiar with him, but he was just as important as Edison or Newton. If only it were affordable so the average person could have one?? Do you think the major auto makers have anything to do with the price? I would buy one today if it was around $25K. Its even a good looking car!

Very neat car.  I would love to have an electric vehicle to drive around town.  We've been paying $4.65 p/ gallon for regular for almost 3 mos and over $5 p/gallon for diesel.  But, I'm not sure that I'll save enough on fuel to make a $100K auto purchase feasible.

Larry - Their site claims you can drive about 220 miles before needing a charge.

Betina - I read up on Nikolai Tesla and was suprised to learn how important a role he played in modern technology.

Jim - Don't be such a downer.

This is a great car which will be further developed and become more affordable as economies of scale occur.

The Tesla is a sporty version and definitely would be competitively priced in its class. Should they decide to make a car for the every day consumer, I'm sure the price could come down substantially. It makes me wonder how many kilo watt hours it would use up for a 3.5 hour charge. It will interesting to see what happens in the near foreseeable future.

That much money would buy a lot of gas!  But it is a sweet looking car!

Seems like the average person would need a 30 fixed mortgage to afford it, LOL

very fancy little car, but the price tag might scare off a few people.  I like it though... I guess you might be seeing more of those in the CA area.

I haven't seen any on the road yet, but I have driven past their showroom.
