Ladies, think you are taking a "hit" in your business, nothing like this!

We had a friend visit us for the weekend and she was so excited that one of her employees was headed off to the 2008 National Football Championships in Memphis, Tennessee this coming weekend. No biggie I thought, then it hit me "National Football Championship", how, what, who? Football is finished for a bit, right, maybe I lost a few months somewhere along the way?

Our friend went on to explain that her employee is a player for the West Michigan Mayhem.

OK, um, never heard of the team. Then she said it's an all female team, full tackle, what? And to top it off she explained how the Team is 11-0 in the Women's Football Association.

Now, I'm stumped, where have I been, stuck in The Rain, nah!

Introducing the West Michigan Mayhem. I wish them the best in their National Play-off against the H-Town (Houston) Cyclones, (10-1) kick-off is at 7:05pm on Saturday, July 26th. Should be a great game, The Mayhem beat the Philadelphia Phoenix Team and The Cyclone won over the Los Angeles Amazons to advance to the National Finals.

I've seen this- it's real football- played the way you'd expect it.

Wow - congrats to these rough-and-tumble ladies! I went through one semester of rugby in college (no pads) and that was enough to satisfy my need to knock people over.

Chuck, I had never heard about the league and they are located about a 1/2 hour away. Intriguing!

I didn't even realize there was a full contact women's football league! Hope you home team does good!

Wow, who knew. You're great for posting this. It definitely deserves some attention.

Rich, I didn't either and to see the teams that are in the conference I was quite surprised. I think they deserve more recognition as the men's league does, hopefully that will come in the future.

Well how interesting. I never knew. Great post. You hear about basketball and soccer. I hope that they get the attention they deserve. Thanks for educating me!

Well, um, yeah. I can only say good luck to them! I'm a lover, not a, um, football player? I never even imagined women's football teams. I wonder if they are all across the U.S.

Just thought about it, you might want to post this in one of the sports groups like Fantasy Sports 101 or Sports Talk. It would probably get a lot of response and attention. Just a thought.

Full contact eh? Those are some tough looking women out there. Where do they place in Michigan.

Trunda, I learned some thing new as well when I dug into it, Saturdays the big game....

Kathy, we learned some thing new together, I was blown away that they had a national league and one of the teams was from our area. Thought it was to cool not to write about it and help get the league noticed.

Renae, I was surprised on the amount of teams in the league (see at the bottom of the post) from all over the US.

Robert, full contact, full tackle, full respect from me.... They play in Kalamazoo during the regular season.

Clearly, I married the wrong man...one who doesn't LIVE for grown men jumping on each other....Oh (Sign, sigh) I think we are soul mates !

Sally, LOL, is David more acceptable to grown women jumping on each other? grin. I'm not a big sports fan, but will watch it on occasionally and then enjoy the heck out of it. But to schedule my day to watch an event...doesn't happen very often.

Duane - I didn't even realize this existed. Wow. I wonder if the women who's nicknames are Honey & Bunny get any less respect than those nicknamed Griz, Bear & Mustang?

I definitey going to have to watch a game. I am not a big sports fan but I like the concept of football just not the posing of the male players. Also love the name of the team "Mayhem"

Duane I didn't know such a thing existed. It would be a lot of fun watching a game. My daughter used to play in a charity powder puff game when she was in high school
