What Today's Buyers Want: Part 2

By
Home Stager with Picture it SOLD! Home Staging

Picking up where I left off in my last post, I want to share more "Trends to Watch in 2008" regarding what buyers want in a home.  Again, I learned this information from Christine Rae, the author of Home Staging for Dummies and the keynote speaker at last week's first annual San Francisco Bay Area Home Staging Expo.

  • Second laundry in (or off) the master bedroom
  • Elaborate main floor laundry with racks from drying, place to iron
  • Luggage rooms. Used to be gift wrapping rooms, now are multi-functioning spaces
  • Glass tiles for light reflection
  • Daylight. Windows with UV protection
  • Outdoor showers with privacy
  • Upscale garages with upgraded cupboards and flooring
  • Man caves or mom caves. Essentially it's personal, dedicated space with a lock and key!
  • Rejuvenation rooms. One-stop place for yoga, exercise, meditation, steam showers, upscale water feature
  • Snoring rooms (repackaged guest rooms)
  • New construction - 2 master suites.
  • For Baby Boomers: keyless entry, a "package shelf" in the entry hall where they can drop their purse or shopping bags, no steps, walk-in showers, sustainable design
