Picking up where I left off in my last post, I want to share more "Trends to Watch in 2008" regarding what buyers want in a home. Again, I learned this information from Christine Rae, the author of Home Staging for Dummies and the keynote speaker at last week's first annual San Francisco Bay Area Home Staging Expo.
- Second laundry in (or off) the master bedroom
- Elaborate main floor laundry with racks from drying, place to iron
- Luggage rooms. Used to be gift wrapping rooms, now are multi-functioning spaces
- Glass tiles for light reflection
- Daylight. Windows with UV protection
- Outdoor showers with privacy
- Upscale garages with upgraded cupboards and flooring
- Man caves or mom caves. Essentially it's personal, dedicated space with a lock and key!
- Rejuvenation rooms. One-stop place for yoga, exercise, meditation, steam showers, upscale water feature
- Snoring rooms (repackaged guest rooms)
- New construction - 2 master suites.
- For Baby Boomers: keyless entry, a "package shelf" in the entry hall where they can drop their purse or shopping bags, no steps, walk-in showers, sustainable design
