Have you buried a St. Joseph's Statue to sell a listing or your home?

Do you know the tradition behind burying the statue?

The solemn tradition of burying St. Joseph in the earth began hundreds of years ago in Europe. During those times, an order of nuns prayed to St. Joseph (the patron saint of the family and household needs) when they needed more lands for convents. The Sisters were encouraged to bury their St. Joseph medals in the ground.

The medals evolved into statues, culminaing with the complete "Underground Real Estate Agent" Kit currently available. Today, thousands of homesellers and real estate agents nationwide continue this successful tradition; they are looking for a little divine intervention.

Do you believe that they work?

Would you bury one?

Which way did you bury it?

I would love to hear your experience on burying St. Joseph since I am a big believer in positive thoughts and prayers.

Thanks for viewing!

10 Comments on Will You Admit That You Burried A St. Joseph To Sell Your Listing?

Yes, yes, yes.  I'm a stager, not a realtor, but St. Joe has worked for me selling my own homes.  If I feel comfortable with my clients, I'll bring up the tradition as a suggestion. Most of the time my clients have already heard about it and have buried one in their yards.

He needs to be buried face up, head pointing towards the house. We've always said the prayer and it's always worked.

Don't forget, once he's sold your home for you - dig him up!  You do not want a Saint peeved with you!

Thank you for your responses!  Also, don't forget, after you dig him up you need to place him in the home that sold to bless the home.

Don't laugh but I  carry a St. Joseph statue in my purse.  Not only is St. Joseph the patron saint of my profession but growing up my church and school bore his name.  I did start this year off really great so I thought it must be the statue or how else could I be doing so well in the worst market I have been in since I began selling real estate 25 years ago.  Things have slowed up a little but the year isn't over. Here's hoping St. Joseph will help me make it successfully through the rest of this year.  Being more of a buyer's agent I want the other side to have the benefit of the blessing as well so that is why I carry St. Joseph with me.  I have buried the statue a few times in the yards of houses I was trying to sell and it did seem to work.

We use them all the time, and send them to our listed clients.

Do you really Dick? I know that this is not an uncommon practice around here. What is the significance of burying rather than displaying? I can believe....just don't know much about it.

You betcha! We have our personal home on the market and with over 60 months of inventory in our price range, we're hoping it'll do the trick. It's worked before....

Today a customer in DC told me she sold her home in one day by using Joe, NO JOKE. I asked if she was Catholic, and she wasn't. She went on to say, "faith/religion is like an FM radio. Just because you tune into one particular channel/frequency doesn't mean the others don't exist". Very well put I thought.

Yes, I am the founder of StJosephStatue.com, LLC, but I'm also one of you, a mortgage banker of 22 years. I'm very fortunate to have had the opportunity to start my Joe business back in 1990. Given today's mess, it's been a blessing.

By the way, I'm a believer, and if you had experienced what I have seen over the last 17 years, you would be in the Joe Camp also.

Frankly, I have one of the best jobs on the plant: I'm either celebrating my customer's success with them, or helping them understand why their home didn't sell as they had hoped for.

After thousands of conversations with hopeful home-sellers, one common theme seems to be present with those whose home didn't sell; keeping in mind that the home was desirable, and was properly priced. Are you ready for this? Someone either directly or indirectly associated with the transaction really didn't want the home to sell.

I was recently interview by a reporter about a Joe story, whose home just happened to be for sale for the last eight months with no offers, and he had buried Joe. Now here is a well know personality that's commuting 200 miles a day; lots of stain on the family.

During the interview he asked me what I say to those people that Joe didn't help with the sale. I shared with him the possibility of someone not ready to move. His response, "that's it, no wonder my agent is baffled, he says the house has everything going for, looks, location and priced under the completion. Now I know why, it's my teenage children; the tension over leaving.

Think what you like... but negative energy is real.

THINK BIG THINK SOLD Thank you St. Joseph!
