  1. WHAT'S THE BEST THAT COULD HAPPEN?  Your imaginings exceed reality by far.  Imagine how you will feel when your prospect says YES!
  2. BEGIN.  Schedule an appointment to begin making contacts.  Go ahead, put the date and time in your planner, then keep that date with yourself; it is not negotiable.
  3. LET A STRANGER RUN YOUR LIFE. (NOT!)  Every minute you spend in fear is being controlled by someone you probably don't know; you are allowing someone other than yourself to determine whether or not you will enjoy success.
  4. HAVE A VISION BIGGER THAN YOUR FEAR.  Fear of rejection will be reduced to cold ashes when it is ignited by your burning desire.  What fabulous picture do you see for yourself when your vision becomes reality?
  5. GET A BUDDY.   It is easier to whistle in the dark when someone is in it with you.  When two or more people confront the boogeyman, he doesn't stand a chance!
  6. PLAY THE NUMBERS.  It takes X number of contacts to generate X number of leads to generate X number of appointments to generate X number of pitches (or presentations) to generate x number of YESSES.  What are your numbers?
  7. DON'T BE ATTACHED TO THE OUTCOME.  All you can do is your best.  How people respond to that is beyond your control.  However, when we focus on being our best, we get more positive responses.
  8. IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU; MAKE IT ABOUT THEM.   You are offering something of value to people who may not need it at the moment; if they don't have the opportunity to choose you, because you never contact them, then you have deprived them of something valuable.
  9. USE PROVEN SCRIPTS AND PRESENTATIONS.   When you know what you are going to say in every conversation, you can focus your attention on what your prospect is saying.  Listening is one of the greatest ways to serve others and the payoff is huge!
  10. WORK YOUR SPHERE OF INFLUENCE. The folks who know you, like you and trust you, and they will usually be glad to provide you with leads if only you will ask them.

I like the "Play the Numbers" rule. It's a way I learned some time ago to not worry so much about someone say "No". It's progress being made. This rule can also be applied to so much more in life.

Love the tips, especially the "What is the best that could happen?" I mean, after all, there is just as great of a chance that things will go your way as there is that things will go sour. I also like "Begin!" It's SO easy to let fear paralyze us!
