I'm a sucker for a real estate seminar. I almost always go hoping to gain some kind of new knowledge. Today I went to a seminar as the guest of a client. He was really excited because he thought there was so much to learn and he wanted to share the information with me since I invest in real estate myself. In the end, the REALTOR® sitting next to me and I walked out before it was over. I gave it a fair try. Even went back after lunch but I got tired of the fast talking, the freezing room temperature and the 2 plus 2 adding up to 5.

Here's my conclusion: The speaker didn't cover anything I wasn't already familiar with and their business model wasn't compatible with mine.

If you're interested in buying or selling a house, I want to be your REALTOR®. For more information on how I can help you visit my Web site at http://www.robinscottrealtor.com. If you are in the Ausitn area I can help you personally. If you are outside the Austin area  I can refer you to reputable REALTORS® in your area through my REALTOR® connections. 4 Comments on You Want Me to Invest in What? Bite me!

I am thinking you are not getting comments due to your title alone.  We have all been there and feel your pain!  I think if you changed it to 'You want me to invest what?  Bite me!'.  More people would read it!!!

Just a thought.

Thanks Melody. Changed the title. I was trying to be diplomatic but the truth is it all sounded shady and as REALTORS we are accountable to a CODE OF ETHICS.

Here I sit on Saturday morning signing on to Active Rain.  Coffee shot across the room when I read the title of your post.

I went to many of those prior to getting my license.  The ones I attended were 'get rich quick' and 'no money down'.  After becoming a Realtor I shed the 'belief' those tactics could actually work 'legally' and ethically.  Now that the market has changed I am running into investors losing their shirts!

Yes. The presenters talk fast, leave out critical information, tell the audience things that don't make sense to someone who actually knows what the terms mean and how the process works and show how they made a fortune. I was sitting there thinking." I don't get it." How did they do that? The answer was "smoke and mirrors."
