Warning, this blog has nothing to do with real estate, or home inspection. Enter at your own risk! Ok, Charles Buell had so much fun with his whatzit blog, that I decided to challenge your knowledge with this. First one to tell me what it is with the correct name(s) and I will give you a free Send Out Cards account to send two free greeting cards to anyone you like. Happy guessing!
Looks like a FINGER DRUM to me but it could also be one of those new fangled enemas. - cheryl
I think Charles googled instead of guessed, didn't know that was allowed. I was going to say toe nail clipper next! be good cheryl
Kevin, it is a musical instrument. The tuned metal strips resonate on the sounding board to amplify the sound. I do believe that Charles had the correct answer - mbira. I did not Google it, I have seen one of these in a museum of 'ancient' musical instruments...
Charles , you are soooo smart! Yes, it is a mbira, or African thumb piano. It is played with two thumbs. and two forefingers over the two holes in the back, which are not visible in this picture.
I actually learned how to play this thing (after learning how to tune it). It kind of has a sound like a doorbell, but with many different chimes.
Congratulations Charles!
I knew it was an instrument, I've seen one played before. I had no idea what it was called though.
Kevin, they are a pretty cool instrument and sound really nice when played by someone that knows how. My wife's parents gave me a version of it from some trip they made a while back.
I would have said a musical instrument...pretty obvious. That slacker Charlie B beat me to the punch with a more specific answer.
You have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool ole Charlie B. Yea Steve, the musical instrument part wasn't really a big secret, just the name of it, and maybe it's origin. I doubt if Bing would have known what it was either.
Cheryl, New fangled enema??? yikes... don't come near me with that thing!
Kevin - All I know is that YOU need to make a video of you playing this mbira and put it up on AR so we can laugh uh, I mean enjoy your musical talent.. God bless,
Cheryl,
I respectfully decline... mainly because I don't want to blow you away with my incredible musical talent. :)
